Want to travel abroad, which one is cheaper, Hainan or Thailand?

Only those who have been to Thailand can understand the meaning of "rich people go to Sanya, poor people go to Southeast Asia" and "rich people go to Xuexiang, poor people go to Hokkaido".

The first two are easy to understand. Usually, they are the bulk of tourism consumption. The air tickets and accommodation to Thailand are similar to or even cheaper than those in Sanya, Hainan. To Thailand, there are low-cost flights departing from the province and going directly to Bangkok. The round-trip air ticket only costs a little more than 1,000, and it is even more expensive to go to Hainan. Accommodation in five-star hotels in Bangkok and Pattaya costs only six to seven hundred, which is similar to five-star hotels in China. In addition, I didn’t mention the cost of meals. In fact, if you don’t just eat instant noodles, the cost of meals is also very important. Eating in Thailand is really cheap, and the seafood is abundant and cheap. For 1,000 baht, two people can eat well, and for 1,500 baht, they can eat to death. How much is 1,500 baht? Just over 300 RMB. We went to Ratchada Train Night Market and ate various snacks and sashimi fish. In the end we couldn’t walk, and it only cost 300 to 400 yuan. Not to mention the pomegranate juice and various fruits on the roadside, they are all very, very cheap.

What are hidden costs? It means that when you go out to play, you don’t have to worry about being cheated, you don’t have to worry about being ripped off when you eat, you don’t have to worry about being cheated when shopping, you don’t have to worry about imperfect tourist facilities or even being unable to find a toilet. Thailand is really the best in this regard. In Thailand, I always eat and drink as much as I want, and there will never be a sky-high price of 48 yuan for a prawn. Go to Koh Koh Lan and rent a motorcycle on the island. You don’t need a passport or any deposit. You are allowed to drive away without even remembering your face. The gas is enough to ride for a day. You just need to pay 200 baht when returning the bike (more than 40 dollars). Riding a motorcycle around the island, you can go anywhere there are roads, and there is no admission fee anywhere. At Grand Island Beach, we rented beach chairs. After asking about the price, we took out our wallets to pay. They just waved their hands, indicating that we could play in peace. I enjoyed the service throughout the day. I had food when I was hungry, cold beer and ice-cold coconuts when I was thirsty. They were all brought to me. I played until the evening and left, waiting for you to take a shower before I came back to pay you. A whole day of eating, drinking and beach chairs cost 900 baht for two people, a total of 200 yuan.

Of course, Thailand is not all good. Taste of food is a big issue. In the end, I couldn't bear it anymore and went to McDonald's. I thought McDonald's was the most delicious food I've ever tasted.

Hainan is similar to Xuexiang in that it is typical not to open for half a year and only open for half a year.

Hainan Island enters its peak season at the end of December every year, which lasts until the end of February of the following year. July and August are small peak seasons. Except for another peak during National Day, the rest of the time is really deserted. From the perspective of physical geography, Hainan at 18-19 degrees north latitude is not that tropical. Whether it is vegetation, climate or customs, it is almost the same as the islands in Southeast Asia. Due to ocean currents and development, Sanya is not very suitable for swimming in the sea, and the sea view is also discounted. This invisibly reduces the price consumers pay for landscapes.

From the perspective of human geography, Hainan’s accessibility is also low. Except for the Pearl River Delta urban agglomeration and Yunnan-Guizhou, it takes more than 2 hours of flight from China's population centers to Hainan, which also increases time and economic costs. More importantly, on the premise that Chinese consumers think it is better to go abroad (in fact, the same is true for island tours), Hainan seems unacceptable if it takes an extra 40 minutes to fly to Southeast Asia. Various factors have led to the gradual decline of the status of the international tourist island. In addition, Southeast Asian countries are competing for customers and markets, which has created the impression that Hainan tourism is not cost-effective.

However, Hainan in the off-season is really a paradise on earth, because there are few people, the hotel occupancy rate is low, and the room prices are very generous. If your requirements for accommodation are not high, Four Points by Sheraton or Mangrove Hotel can handle it. Then three or four hundred and one night is enough. Breakfast is included. And for just over a hundred dollars more, you can live in established five-star hotels like Yalong Bay Marriott and Sheraton. The top luxury hotels such as Rosewood and Mandarin Oriental can be purchased for just over a thousand dollars. In the off-season, hotels even offer various catering packages, and fish steaks and seafood markets also offer discounts to attract customers. It’s a paradise.
