I will travel to Taiwan soon. Is Mandarin or English spoken in Taiwan?

Mandarin is mostly spoken in the northern part of Taiwan, while Taiwanese (Minnan dialect) is mostly spoken in the southern part. Not everyone can speak English. The reason why it feels like Japanese is that some people use Japanese words mixed in when speaking Taiwanese. Just like some people like to mix English when speaking Mandarin, this is because Taiwan was ruled by Japan for 50 years.

Mandarin is basically not much different from Mandarin used in Taiwan, except for some differences in the use of tones. Taiwanese is a local language in Taiwan and is similar to Hokkien and Hokkien. Compared with Taiwanese, Taiwanese is mixed with more Japanese. In daily life, Taiwanese is a commonly used language. Outside Taipei City, Taiwanese is the main language, followed by Mandarin.

Taiwanese speak Minnan, which is the dialect spoken by people in southern Fujian. Not everyone can speak English, it’s just that they have been under colonial rule for half a century. Taiwan has nothing to do with Japan.
