Servicemen are not allowed to leave the station, visit relatives or travel to Hong Kong and Macao at will, but can apply for a temporary pass in the political department (office) of their unit, valid for 3 months.

List of materials required for military personnel to apply for travel permits to and from Hong Kong and Macao:

Servicemen are required to submit the approval document, military officer's card, military identity card registration form or resident identity card issued by party committees or political organs at or above the army level and submit a copy;

Retired soldiers are required to provide household registration books and identity cards;
