Impression of labor Miao village

Take a 20-minute bus from Fenghuang Ancient City to Changtangang Hydropower Station, change to a cruise ship, drive upstream for 40 minutes, walk ashore, cross the canyon and climb the mountain road, and it takes about two hours to reach the destination. Deep in the mountains, there is a quaint village-Labor Miao Village. Electricity was supplied in 2000, a simple road leading to the outside of the mountain was built last year, and tourism business began this year.

Ma Heting, the guide in the stockade, is a 30-year-old man. He sometimes introduces the changes of stockade in the old cave, tells the story of Miao family, and sometimes sings melodious Miao songs. He also reminds us from time to time to pay attention to safety when walking on mountain roads and to step in the middle of stone slabs. ...

Walking through a dark cave, I saw a village on the opposite hillside. Stacked stone houses and the faint smoke from kitchen chimneys have accelerated our pace.

Miao girls and boys set up a bar at the gate of the stockade. Before entering the stockade, we drank sweet rice wine and sang duet. Several elderly women in the stockade also sat by the wall and nodded to welcome us. Chinese food is not rich, but original Miao dishes. Miao led us to visit the slate house, the grain drying field, the former toast and the residence of the village owner in Miao village, and especially observed the stone tower built by Miao village to defend against the enemy, the gun holes on the slate wall, and the back window connecting the tunnels and secret doors of every household. Miao villagers also performed Miao drum dance, Miao song and bamboo dance for us.

A 4-year-old girl left a deep impression on us. Her name is Long Xiuzhi. A few years ago, her father went to work in Zhejiang and met her mother. They fell in love, got married and had her. My mother came to Miao village and saw that it was poor and backward, so she didn't want to be a daughter-in-law here. She never came back. The little girl lives with her grandmother. Whenever tourists come, she always wants to see if there will be her mother in the crowd. Poor thing! The little girl sang two Miao songs for us. Her voice is very crisp and beautiful, and her tone is very stable. The tourists praised her as Xiao Song who rented English. I think if she can get training, maybe she can really become a singer. When we left, we took a group photo with the fifty generations of stockmen and Mrs. Yazhai in the stockade.
