Introduction to Zhenjiang Museum

Zhenjiang Museum is a comprehensive museum of local history The museum was founded in 1958. The original building was the former site of the British Consulate in Zhenjiang. It was built at the end of the 19th century. It was one of the earliest consulates built along the coast of China. Its unique style and intact preservation are rare in the country.

The Zhenjiang Museum collects more than 40,000 cultural relics from the Neolithic Age to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Among them, there are 103 first-class cultural relics, 340 second-class cultural relics, and 3,121 third-class cultural relics, including Wu bronzes from the Western Zhou and Spring and Autumn Periods, celadon from the Six Dynasties, gold and silverware from the Tang Dynasty, silk clothing from the Song Dynasty, calligraphy and painting from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and palace porcelain from the Qing Dynasty. The collection features are well-known at home and abroad.
