Is there altitude sickness in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan?
Principle of altitude sickness:
"Altitude sickness is a variety of pathological reactions caused by rapid exposure to low pressure and hypoxia, and it is a common disease unique to plateau areas." Luo Rongji, a Tibetan doctor who has been dealing with this disease for a long time, said that it takes several hours or 1 ~ 3 days to get sick from the plain to the plateau above 3000m, or from the plateau to higher altitude areas. When the altitude reaches about 2700 meters, altitude sickness will occur. Therefore, the probability of altitude sickness by plane in high altitude areas is greater than that by car, because there is a time to get used to it, and flying is a shortcut to get into the plateau, so there is no time to get used to it.
Symptoms:
Symptoms such as headache, dizziness, nausea and vomiting, palpitation, shortness of breath, chest tightness and chest pain occur. Patients with acute altitude sickness have dry cough, headache, dyspnea or cyanosis. A few patients with fulminant type have extreme dyspnea, irritability or delirium, and cough up a lot of pink foam-like sputum.
Treatment method:
1. First of all, patients with heart, lung, brain and blood system diseases should not enter the plateau; Usually, you are in good health. Before entering the plateau, you should make preparations, ban alcohol and smoking, prevent upper respiratory tract infection, and carry necessary first-aid drugs and other items.
2. Have a good psychological quality and ensure optimism.
3. Altitude sickness can generally heal itself. If the symptoms are serious, you can do symptomatic treatment, such as oxygen inhalation, analgesia and sedation, such as oral painkillers and diazepam. Drinking the root water of Tibetan medicine "Rhodiola" can alleviate altitude sickness. Fatigue, colds and upper respiratory tract infections should be avoided. Patients with rare high altitude pulmonary edema and high altitude cerebral edema should be given plenty of oxygen and quickly transferred to low altitude areas, and the treatment effect is good.
4. clothes must be warm. Even in summer, mainlanders must prepare sweaters, thermal underwear and so on. In winter, the temperature is relatively low, so it is necessary to wear sunglasses and hats to prevent ultraviolet damage.
5. Food should be high-calorie and digestible, not overeating.
