Brief introduction of Datong ancient town scenic spot
Datong ancient town, near the Yangtze River, is located in the middle of Tongling City, Anhui Province, with a total area of 70.72 square kilometers. The ancient town of Datong, called Lanxi in ancient times, set up "Megan Leaf" here in the Western Han Dynasty, set up Datong Shui Yi in the Tang Dynasty, and built the town in the eighth year of Song Kaibao (AD 975).
At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, Datong Town, as an important trading port of Yantai Treaty, was as famous as Anqing, Wuhu and Bengbu, and was also called the "four major commercial ports" in Anhui.
The main feature is the bronze river, the "ancient road of worshipping Buddha" where Buddhist believers go to Jiuhua for pilgrimage. One hand is connected to the Yangtze River, and the other hand is connected to the ancestral hall lake, a thousand mu lake of the Bronze River. The Dashige, known as the "Tianmen at the head of Jiuhua Mountain", faces the towering bell tower of the Catholic Church across the lake.
Heyue Island, located in the 3rd Street and 13th Lane of He Yue Old Street, is a national freshwater dolphin reserve. There is a "living historical and cultural block", which is the only square stone Lanxi old street in the ancient towns of China.
