When does the World Tourism Organization designate September each year as World Tourism Day?

The World Tourism Organization designates September 27th every year as World Tourism Day.

World Tourism Day (World Tourism Day) is held on September 27th every year. It is organized by the World Tourism Organization Organizing festivals for identified tourism workers and tourists. In 1971, the International Alliance of Official Tourism Organizations, the predecessor of the World Tourism Organization (WTO), planned to establish "World Tourism Day" at the suggestion of the African official tourism organizations.

On September 27, 1979, the 3rd Congress of the World Tourism Organization officially designated September 27 as World Tourism Day, which was implemented in 1980. The significance of establishing World Tourism Day is to commemorate the adoption of the founding charter of the World Tourism Organization, draw public attention to tourism, and promote tourism publicity and tourism exchanges and cooperation among countries.

Since 1980, all member countries of the World Tourism Organization have carried out commemorative activities around the theme of World Tourism Day set by the organization for that year, such as issuing commemorative stamps and opening up new tourism routes.
