How many cigarettes can you bring out of the country?

Chinese citizens returning from overseas travel may bring no more than 400 cigarettes into the country.

According to the "Regulations of the Customs of the People's Republic of China on the Management of Entry and Exit Luggage of Chinese Passengers" (General Administration of Customs Order No. 58):

Residents of Hong Kong and Macao Mainland residents traveling to Hong Kong and Macau for personal reasons can bring in 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars, or 250 grams of tobacco duty-free. Alcoholic beverages with a concentration of 12 degrees or above are limited to 1 bottle (less than 0.75 liters). Other passengers can bring 400 cigarettes, 100 cigars, or 500 grams of tobacco into the country duty-free. Alcoholic beverages with 12 degrees or more are limited to 2 bottles (less than 1.5 liters).

Liquor and cigarettes brought into the country must be limited to a reasonable amount for personal use. If the amount exceeds the reasonable amount for personal use (no more than two cigarettes, no more than 1500ml of wine), personal postal tax will be levied. Personal postal tax on cigarettes and wine will be levied. The tax rate is 50%, personal postal tax = duty-paid price * personal postal tax rate.
