Maoming is a coastal city, not a border city.

Maoming is located at the intersection of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Beibu Gulf Urban Agglomeration and Hainan Free Trade Zone. Maoming is an important petrochemical base and energy base in China, and has formed "six leading industries" such as petrochemical industry, agricultural and sideline products, mineral resources, light industry and textile, medicine and health, metal processing and advanced equipment manufacturing. Maoming county economy has developed steadily, ranking in the forefront of Guangdong, East and West. Rich in products, it is the prefecture-level city with the highest agricultural output value in Guangdong Province. Maoming is an excellent tourist city in China with all-terrain features. There are abundant tourism resources, including "six-point-one-line" coastal tourism, fairy lady cultural tourism, beautiful countryside amorous feelings tourism, mountain sports leisure tourism and so on. Maoming is an important birthplace, prosperity and inheritance place of "sorghum culture". During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Gaozhou Prefecture (now Maoming) was an important political, economic and cultural center in western Guangdong.
