Is Chengdu really as good as we think?
Is Chengdu really as good as we think? I went to university in Chengdu and spent three years as a postgraduate student in Chengdu. Although I am not an authentic Chengdu native, I still have a relatively deep understanding of Chengdu. Since I resigned from the party and government agencies in 1999, I have been working in Chengdu. I live in Chengdu and bought my current house in Chengdu. Although I still work in Chongqing, I still consider myself a Chengdu native. Let me share with you my knowledge about Chengdu. First, the Land of Abundance belongs to Chengdu.
Chengdu is located in the central part of Sichuan Province, China. It is the capital of Sichuan Province, one of China's sub-provincial cities, the political, economic, cultural and educational center of Sichuan, a city separately listed in the national economic and social development plan, and a national historical and cultural city. Chengdu has a long history and is known as the "Land of Abundance", "Jiangnan in the middle of Sichuan", and "Suzhou and Hangzhou in the middle of Sichuan". During the flower blooming season, Chengdu is "forty miles full of beautiful flowers", so Chengdu is also called Furong City, or "Rongcheng" for short. Chengdu is one of the oldest cities in China that has remained unchanged. Everyone says that Sichuan is the land of abundance, but the real land of abundance is Chengdu. Second, Chengdu’s geographical location is very advantageous.
Chengdu is located in the middle reaches of the Minjiang River in the west of the Sichuan Basin. The urban area of ??Chengdu is located in the east of the Chengdu Plain, with an average altitude of about 500 meters. The Chengdu Plain is the largest plain in southwest my country. The plain area is high in the northwest and low in the southeast, with an average slope drop of 0.3%. The Dujiangyan Water Conservancy Project is located on the main stream of the Min River. Its irrigation canal network spreads out in a fan shape on the vast Chengdu Plain, making the Chengdu Plain a "land of abundance where floods and droughts depend on people and no one knows hunger or thirst." One of the largest granaries and commercial grain supply bases. The beautiful and fertile Chengdu Plain has cultivated the Chengdu people's leisurely and romantic humanistic style of having no worries about food and clothing. Third, the pleasant climate conditions are very suitable for human habitation.
Chengdu has a subtropical monsoon climate with early spring, hot summer, cool autumn and warm winter. The annual average temperature is 16 degrees Celsius and the annual rainfall is about 1,000 mm. A distinctive feature of Chengdu's climate is cloudiness and fog and short sunshine hours. Another notable feature of Chengdu's climate is that the air is humid. Therefore, although the temperature is not high in summer (the maximum temperature generally does not exceed 35 degrees Celsius), it is sultry. In winter, the average temperature is above 5 degrees Celsius, but due to many cloudy days and air moisture, it is It seems very cold. The rain in Chengdu is concentrated in July and August. Winter and spring are dry and rainless, with very little ice and snow. Due to the special climatic conditions, Chengdu produces beauties, and Tianfu produces beauties. The beauties in Chengdu are beautiful, fair-skinned, slender, and speak in an amiable tone. They have become one of Chengdu’s city cards. Fourth, Chengdu’s comprehensive strength is relatively strong.
Chengdu is a technology, commerce, financial center and transportation and communications hub in southwest China. Chengdu is an inland open city and a comprehensive supporting reform pilot city that took the lead in establishing a socialist market economic system. It ranks 11th among the "Top 50 Comprehensive Cities in China" and is the first provincial capital city to win the honor of National Sanitary City. Chengdu's comprehensive strength Mainland China ranks ninth. Chengdu's central business district stretches from Xinhua Avenue in the north to Funan River in the south, from Hongxing Road in the east to Dongchenggen Street in the west, with a total area of ??5.5 square kilometers. Among them, the core area of ??the central business district is 2.45 square kilometers, including Chunxi Road, Hongxing Road, Yanshikou, Luomashi, Shuncheng Street and other traditional major business and commercial areas. Chengdu is the "Best Tourism City in China" and one of the important business cities in the country. The number of foreign retail businesses entering the country ranks first in the country, and Chunxi Road is one of China's famous pedestrian streets. Fifth, Chengdu is cheap and its food is famous all over the world.
What is most closely related to the immediate interests of our people is that although Chengdu is a megacity, a national central city, and a new first-tier city, compared with first-tier cities and other new first-tier cities, Chengdu’s prices are The level is generally relatively cheap. The average housing price in Chengdu is about 20,000 to 30,000 yuan per square meter, which is slightly higher than that in nearby Chongqing. Compared with nearby Xi'an, Lanzhou and other places, the price is also relatively moderate. The salary level of most people in Chengdu is not high. In 2018, the average salary of urban non-private unit employees in Chengdu was 77,505 yuan, and the average monthly salary was 6,459 yuan. The salary level of most people is around 5,000 yuan per month, but they The happiness index of living in Chengdu is very high. Sichuan cuisine is one of the eight famous cuisines in my country, and it is also one of the cuisines with the highest acceptance by people across the country. Chengdu people like to go to restaurants, and like to go out with the whole family to eat snacks and cook hot pot. In their leisure time, Chengdu people like to go to teahouses to drink tea and play mahjong. The teahouses on the streets have become the best places for Chengdu people to relax and have fun. Therefore, Chengdu is also a big city famous for its leisure. Living in Chengdu, you will be relieved from stress. After work, many business contracts are negotiated in teahouses.
Haha, there are five benefits mentioned above, but there are many more that need to be explained in detail. For example, Chengdu has excellent transportation links. Chengdu is not only a railway hub in the west, but also an aviation hub. Chengdu Shuangliu Airport is one of the largest aviation airports in my country. Among the western airports, it has the most international routes. It is the city with two major international airports in the country after Beijing and Shanghai. Underground transportation is very developed. More than ten subway lines have been opened. It is the city with the most developed rail transportation among the western cities. If we say Chengdu is good, it is really better than we imagined, don’t you believe it? You are welcome to come and experience it for half a year. Chengdu is really a city you don’t want to leave once you come here.
I would like to say that the soil and water support a person. Basically, I feel that the place I stayed in when I was a child is good. I feel like the mountainous area in my hometown is the best.
If Chengdu has people and feelings you care about, plus a comfortable life and beautiful natural environment, it is a good place.
Chengdu is really not as good as you have heard. Although Chengdu’s comprehensive development strength has reached the level of a new first-tier city, Chengdu is really not suitable for ordinary people from other provinces to develop!
1. Housing prices in Chengdu are not cheap anymore. At present, housing prices in the five major urban areas of Chengdu have exceeded 20,000, and in some areas they have reached 30,000 or more. Don't say that housing prices in Chengdu are much cheaper than those in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. What you need to see is the salary level in Chengdu. The salary of most Chengdu people is around 4,000, which is relatively disadvantageous compared with the big cities above.
Comparing Changsha with Chengdu, the salary level in Chengdu is similar to that in Changsha, and may even be slightly inferior. However, the housing prices in Changsha are much lower than those in Chengdu, with prices in many areas exceeding RMB 10,000.
2. Chengdu has a large population and will grow more and more. The development of surrounding cities is slow, and surrounding cities and counties will continue to import population into Chengdu. Even if Chengdu has included all surrounding counties and districts, the population density will still appear to be very high. Higher population density means that the quality of education, medical care, and living facilities that everyone can enjoy will be reduced. To put it simply, ordinary people live a life lacking happiness.
On the contrary, you can compare it with small cities in Jiangsu and Zhejiang, such as Quzhou, Taizhou, etc. Although the cities are small, their general wages are higher than those in Chengdu, with complete living facilities, widespread digitalization and intelligence in the city, and a higher population density than Chengdu. Chengdu is much cheaper, and living in such a city is really pleasant.
3. Chengdu’s rapid development is a key project for the country to support the development of the western region. If it were not for the phenomenon of agglomeration development, it would be difficult for Chengdu to be in the situation it is today. Why many city-level cities in Sichuan Province are not as good as many county-level cities in the east is because of the phenomenon of agglomeration development in Sichuan. They have all gone to one or two big cities such as Chengdu and Mianyang.
If you look at most rural areas in Sichuan Province, there are basically no young people left, and few people go back to their hometowns during the Chinese New Year. This is completely different in the eastern coastal areas. There are villas everywhere in the rural areas along the coast. Bungalows are the envy of many people in the city.
Chengdu is very good. It is a well-developed city with a population base of more than 20 million. The city area is also large and the scale is good. But when we look at each person's life, the overall level is very different. It's not that Chengdu is not rich and developed enough, but that ordinary people really live a simple life in Chengdu. The good things in Chengdu are only good for a small number of people, but generally When the per capita wages in Chengdu increase, and the increase in housing prices does not exceed wages, then it is really good!
Housing prices in Chengdu are low, depending on where they are compared. For example, compared with Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, housing prices in Chengdu are really good. Compared with Hangzhou and Nanjing, housing prices in Chengdu are also cheaper.
Similarly, Chengdu’s housing prices are also divided into regions. For example, the housing prices in the first circle are basically 20,000 to 30,000, and the prices in the second tier and five urban areas are also 20,000 to 30,000. In other words, the housing prices in the inner suburbs are more than 10,000, and the housing prices in the outer suburbs are more than 10,000. Eight or nine thousand.
Looking at it this way, housing prices in Chengdu are indeed not very high, and can be accepted by high-income people or middle-income people. People with lower incomes can also buy houses in outer suburbs, which means that people with low, middle and high incomes in Chengdu can afford them.
So is life in Chengdu necessarily less stressful? Does the pace have to be slow?
In fact, this is not the case. The most leisurely places in Chengdu are also in Wucheng District. These places are mostly populated by locals and have many relocated households. The family still has some savings, so they can drink tea and play mahjong.
However, if you look at the busy figures and people passing by in the Hi-tech Zone, Hi-tech West District, and Tianfu New District, you will find that this is a city full of vitality and passion.
However, overall, Chengdu is indeed a livable and work-friendly city!
I am from Chongqing and have lived in Chongqing for more than ten years. When I first came to Chengdu, I was not used to it at all. But the only good thing about Chengdu is that the roads are wide and smooth. Everyone also said that the pace of life in Chengdu is slow, and people here like to have fun. Especially in the afternoon, teahouses and other places are full. People like to bask in the sun, drink tea in the sun, and look at the river. After living in Chengdu for a while, I have adapted to life here.
However, the housing price is about 10,000 to 20,000 per square meter. Compared with first-tier cities, it is definitely cheap. As far as wages are concerned, the average salary now is about two to three thousand, which is not high.
Of course, it also depends on what kind of work you do.
I think Chengdu is well advertised, as much as it says it is, but objectively speaking, Chengdu is a very good city and a place suitable for living and retiring.
Whether each city is good or not depends on individual needs. Some people say it is good, while others say it is bad. Different judging criteria lead to different answers.
Chengdu has become a popular city in recent years. The song "Chengdu" has made it well-known to all people. The sentence "Chengdu, a city you don't want to leave once you come" has made many people come here because of its reputation. What exactly is Chengdu? OK? The following is an analysis from three aspects: life, employment, and development prospects. It only represents my personal point of view.
"Young people cannot enter Sichuan, old people cannot leave Shu", this sentence can explain the life in Chengdu.
The impression Chengdu gives to the outside world in terms of life is slow pace, leisure, food, beautiful women, and beautiful scenery. Leisure is reflected in the never-ending sound of mahjong. On weekends, places with lawns are crowded with people when the sun is out. All these show that Chengdu people enjoy life; Chengdu is said to be a slow-paced city, which should only apply to the past few years. In recent years, Chengdu has developed rapidly and the slow pace no longer exists; Chengdu’s housing prices are indeed better than those in cities of the same level. It’s considered low, but the housing prices in Chengdu have doubled several times in recent years. It’s not that easy to buy a house without a certain financial foundation. I won’t go into details about Chengdu’s delicious food, beauties and beautiful scenery. This is a recognized fact.
Chengdu is really good in terms of life.
In recent years, Chengdu has added a variety of measures to attract talents, such as undergraduates who can settle in the city. The result of these measures is the gathering of outstanding talents from all over the country. In terms of employment, competition is gradually increasing. Finding a job will become more difficult than before. Although many large companies have moved in in recent years, it still takes more effort to find a job that you are satisfied with. At the same time, wages in Chengdu are relatively low among cities of the same level. To work in Chengdu, you don’t have to meet the standards of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Compared with housing prices in other cities, low wages are acceptable.
Chengdu has been developing rapidly in recent years and is making rapid progress. In terms of urban construction, there is a national-level new district, Tianfu New District, with twin airports. The urban construction area is constantly increasing, and the pace of urban construction will not stop in the future. In terms of economy, Chengdu's GDP has been among the top ten in the country for several consecutive years, and has maintained positive growth every year. Some people say that Chengdu should be called Chengdu Province. Economic growth takes up the province's resources. It is undeniable that Chengdu's rapid development is inseparable from Sichuan Province's resource tilt. It is less than the top ten in the country in terms of GDP; in terms of international popularity, the 2019 World Police Games and the upcoming Universiade in 2021, these international events are increasing Chengdu’s popularity. Being able to host these events is also a reflection of the city’s comprehensive strength, and Chengdu has ranked first among the new first-tier cities for several consecutive years, which fully demonstrates the city’s comprehensive strength and Chengdu’s development prospects are worth looking forward to.
Whether Chengdu is good or not, everyone has their own answer. No matter which big city you are in, you have to put in all your efforts if you want to stay. Slow pace and leisure only belong to those people who have already achieved success and fame.
In my opinion, Chengdu is a city worthy of my lifelong struggle, come on!
Whatever suits you and feels comfortable.

Hello, the low housing prices in Chengdu are in areas or apartments with no purchase restrictions. Apartments are investments. My friend who has been working for 4-5 years now has a stable job and cannot afford to buy one nearby. It's too far away from work. The High-tech Zone is a very good example.
Chengdu’s real popularity came from the singer Zhao Lei, whose song “Chengdu” flows slowly like spring water and sings into the heart like moonlight. It makes people inexplicably want to hum along: "...walk with me on the streets of Chengdu. Oh, I won't stop until all the lights go out...".
The most charming thing about Chengdu is its down-to-earth atmosphere, or that it is full of fireworks.
People live in this world not for work and money, but often just to live well, cleanly and freely. Chengdu has an atmosphere of kindness and tolerance, and it’s not without reason that the lifestyle of Chengdu people has been frequently searched.
I went to Chengdu a few years ago and chatted with several Sichuan colleagues on the high-speed railway. We chatted for several hours from Shanghai Station to Chengdu East Railway Station: about their lifestyle and attitude towards life. They are all exquisite pig boys. , good cooking skills, great taste in life, and good knowledge of life. I have forgotten many topics, but one sentence remains fresh in my mind: Many Chengdu people know how to treat themselves well.
Many colleagues who cannot eat spicy food came to Chengdu and were immediately attracted to hot pot, and they still praise it to this day.
Here’s a little tip for you: sometimes you don’t necessarily choose an internet celebrity hotpot restaurant. Instead, listen to the small skewers shop recommended by the taxi driver, which is cheap and affordable.
House prices in Chengdu are about RMB 20,000-30,000, which is average. Hot days are not boring, winters are not cold, and the four seasons are distinct. Many people are willing to live here for a long time. Tourist attractions: Du Fu Thatched Cottage, Mount Emei, Jinli, Kuanzhai Alley, Qingcheng Mountain, Jiuzhaigou, Dujiangyan... I can’t get enough of it. Recently, many interesting things have appeared in Tianfu New District. The potential to become an international metropolis.
There are many "fly restaurants" in the streets and alleys, with spicy and delicious food, couple's lung slices, bell dumplings, hot pot fish, skewers, barbecue, twice-cooked pork... It will make people hang down three feet and increase their appetite.
The pace of life in the old city of Chengdu is very slow. Old Chengdu people enjoy life very much. They play mahjong, sing songs and watch operas. The park is full of activities, and many retired cadres are working in it. The smell of fireworks is very foot.
I am reminded of Audrey Hepburn’s words: Of course I will not try to run to the moon, I want the moon to run to me. Many young people in the High-tech Zone and Tianfu New District work hard for their careers every day, full of passion, and strive for self-achievement and self-struggle every day.
Chengdu is very comfortable.
Eat hot pot, stroll around Taikoo Li, see giant pandas, have tea and play cards in People’s Park, and watch a show in Jinli, isn’t it delicious?
There is only one thing that can make people tired: wavering and indecision. Don’t think too much, come and see Chengdu.
