Foreigners travel to Tibet
Foreigners (including all holders of foreign passports) and Taiwanese compatriots entering Tibet must apply for a "Foreigner Travel Approval Letter for Tibet" issued by the Tibet Autonomous Region Tourism Bureau (TTB) (Special instructions: Foreign journalists and diplomats are not allowed to enter Tibet as tourists).
Application location:
The designated offices of the Tibet Tourism Bureau in various places, or the local travel agency. (If you want to travel freely, of course you can go directly to the Tibet Tourism Bureau office).
Required information:
When applying for the permit, you need to provide your passport (or Taiwan compatriot certificate) and visa to China or a copy. Content includes: name, gender, age, nationality, occupation, employer, passport number, visa type and validity period.
Submit basic information (including name, nationality, age, gender, occupation, passport number), route to Tibet, approximate travel time, travel intention, contact address and phone number, etc., by phone or fax or email. Copies of passport home page and visa can be provided by fax or e-mail.

Generally, the relevant confirmation procedures for Tibet will be obtained within 2-4 days.
The "Foreigner's Travel Approval Letter for Tibet" can usually be issued immediately after receiving copies of the guest's passport and visa.

Although it only takes 3 working days to review and issue the Tibet entry approval letter, taking into account the air tickets, hotels, guides and vehicles related to the guests When making travel arrangements and reservations, please go through the application procedures as early as possible so that relevant information such as travel routes, time, and location to Tibet can be confirmed accordingly.
Guests entering Tibet from Chengdu, Golmud, Chongqing, Xi'an and other places must purchase air tickets and train tickets to Tibet with the original confirmation letter of entry to Tibet.
Guests entering Tibet from Kathmandu must obtain a visa or apostille at the Chinese Embassy in Nepal with a confirmation letter of entry to Tibet, purchase an air ticket, and go through entry procedures.
