What made you choose to ride into Tibet?

The following is the addictive process of riding into Tibet by a friend of Yaya.

Many years ago, a friend traveled to Lijiang, the gateway to Tibet. He stayed in a youth hostel and met a group of ten people who wanted to ride bicycles into Tibet.

They were going to the distant Ali Kailash, and they happened to be short of a photographer. My friend knew photography and knew that Mount Kailash was the legendary Buddhist holy land of Mount Sumeru. The destination was the place he longed for, so he decided to go with the team.

When I entered Tibet for the first time, I was very worried. What I was most worried about was that my physical fitness could not adapt to the plateau. However, following the large army and having the support of the group, I gained some confidence. Of course, the most attractive thing is the destination, which is the legendary center of the universe.

This unexpected trip was a riding feast, and the majestic beauty of Tibetan rivers and mountains was deeply imprinted in my mind. What I saw and heard along the way was more interesting than reading. The scenery every day on the road was a new movie directed and acted by myself. Gradually fell in love with bike travel.

There are few cars in Tibet with beautiful scenery, and the riding process is very enjoyable. When you exercise, your body produces dopamine, which makes your personality cheerful.

This free and easy trip lasted for half a year. Starting in the spring, we visited Diqing Prefecture, Garze Prefecture, Yushu Prefecture, Golmud, Nagqu, Lhasa, Houzang, and Ngari. It was early November when the last team member returned to Lijiang from 318.

Cross the Gaoligong Mountains, Tanggula Mountains, Himalayas, Gangdise Mountains, and cross the source of all rivers. Later, he recalled that the wind, frost, rain and snow on the way had now become a side dish.

Cycling has become his attitude towards life since that time. The bicycle has become a part of his body and his most trusted partner. Sitting on it and stepping on the pedals, he immediately feels confident. There is no place in the world that you can’t ride.

I was addicted to the first long-distance ride, so I did it a second time. This time we went further, through Tibet, Nepal, and to India. Of course, what my friend is most looking forward to is the opportunity to travel around the world.
