Is Dajingmen one of the four major passes on the Great Wall? Information explanation!

Dajingmen is famous for its Great Wall pass.

In the first year of Shunzhi of the Qing Dynasty (AD 1644), a gate was built on the west side of Laiyuan Fort, which was named "Dajing Gate".

When tourists come to Zhangjiakou, visiting the Great Wall and Dajingmen is a major tourist attraction.

According to legend, Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty returned to Kyoto from an expedition and passed by this place at night. He once slept outside Dajing Gate and later built Wolong Pavilion.

In 1963, in order to protect cultural relics and historic sites, Wolong Pavilion was moved to the Dajing Gate of the Municipal People's Park, located at the northern end of Zhangjiakou City.

Outside the gate, the East and West Taiping Mountains face each other majestically, and the terrain is very dangerous.

Dajingmen is a brick arch with a stone foundation. The door wall is 12 meters high, 13 meters long at the base and 9 meters wide. It has two wooden and iron doors.

The top is a platform, 12 meters long and 7.5 meters wide, with a 1.7-meter-high crenel outside and a 0.8-meter-high parapet inside.

On the lintel there are four large Chinese characters "Great Rivers and Mountains" written by Gao Weiyue, the governor of Chahar in 1927, which are vigorous and spectacular.

According to the "Koubei Santing Zhi": "Dajingmen is located at the key pass of the Great Wall and holds the key to the border pass.

The defense is clearly established and the general manager is cleared. The form is dangerous and the qualifications are sufficient. Gongwei, historically this area was a battleground for military strategists. It guarded the northern gate of Kyoto and was the main transportation route connecting the frontier with the mainland.

On August 23, 1945, the Eighth Route Army entered the city from this gate.

On December 23, 1948, the Chinese People's Liberation Army expelled more than 50,000 Kuomintang troops from Dajingmen and wiped them out.

Now, Dajing. The gate is still the main road leading to the north of the mouth and a tourist attraction. It is a key cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level.
