In three days, starting from Dunhuang, Gansu, passing through national highway, expressway, desert, Gobi and riverbed, passing through Axel, Qaidam Basin, Cold Lake, Mars Camp, Ya Dan on the water, Hongya ... and finally arriving in Golmud, Qinghai, the professor drove a brand-new Audi Q7 and started this fearless journey with all the curiosity and questions in his heart.
All the thrills and thrills along the way are teasing our unknown experiences. Desert trucks bravely rushed into no man's land and encountered sandstorms. It seems that we are extremely small in front of nature. But as a challenger, human beings seem fearless. It is because of courage and wisdom that the game of the brave creates every mysterious and wonderful chapter.
Therefore, "exploration" has become the mission that human beings can't stop moving forward. Only by looking for answers, digging the truth and putting themselves in the shoes can we get the results we want. This time, I want to tell you what kind of story we have in these three days.
On the first morning, we set off from Dunhuang and officially started the journey of the fearless experience season with the brand-new Audi Q7. Before this, I never thought that this journey would involve such complicated and rich road conditions. When you enter the Gobi desert and break into the desert, who would have thought that this is just an appetizer for this journey, or a small test, because there are more exciting and fun challenges waiting for us on the third day.
After driving a short section of national highway, we entered the Gobi section, which is far from the city. On the way, we also walked through a river beach. On the Gobi Desert, we set the driving mode to cross-country. No matter whether we pass the Gobi Desert or the cobblestone beach, the performance of Audi Q7 is naturally very calm.
Under the blessing of Audi quattro's full-time four-wheel drive, even when walking on cobblestone ground, the vehicle has never experienced tire skidding, which is not a big challenge for Q7.

When crossing the Gobi desert and cobblestone floodplain and preparing to enter the desert section, due to the lack of driving experience in desert road conditions, individual peer vehicles did not control their speed well in soft sand, resulting in tire skidding and signs of being stuck. Because the tire skidded and stepped on the accelerator several times to accelerate, the signs of tire skidding became more and more obvious, which eventually led to the car being stuck.
One episode was in a soft desert area, which really taught us a lesson, but the theoretical knowledge was not true. With the help of the coach team, the car got rid of the predicament, and finally the team officially moved to the hinterland of the desert.
In order to ensure that Q7 can drive safely and easily in the desert without changing off-road tires, we adjusted the tire pressure to about 0.8Bar, and this time the desert subject experience really began.
In order to make Q7 climb the hill smoothly in the desert, it is necessary to accelerate the vehicle quickly, control the direction, and drive Q7 to the position near the top of the slope in one breath. At this time, the engine oil is quickly collected, and the steering wheel is quickly turned to the bottom of the slope by power inertia, so that the front of the car can complete the turning and downhill along the bottom of the slope. At this time, as long as you straighten the steering wheel when going downhill, control the speed and don't drag the front bumper, you can successfully complete the desert slope washing experience.
In the process of uphill speed-up, Q7' s 340 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque can provide powerful performance explosiveness, and its power reserve is also abundant in the later period. The maximum torque can explode at 1370 rpm, and it can be achieved for 5.9 seconds during the speed increase of 0000 rpm. Although desert land limits Q7' s sense of direct speed increase, it still provides excellent performance support for desert slopes.
However, some caution is also worth mentioning in the experience of desert theme. First, when the speed is not enough and the vehicle may slip and get stuck, don't continue to accelerate and try to climb the hill at this time. The end result is likely to lead to the risk of jamming. Trying to reverse is one of the solutions to avoid the vehicle being trapped.
Secondly, when vehicles want to climb over the top of the slope to the back, they must first ensure the safety behind the top of the slope and pass diagonally along the top of the slope. Don't rush directly on a 90-degree slope, otherwise the vehicle will directly drag the bottom or overturn in the air, leading to danger. Of course, the slope is too high and steep. Please make a detour and don't try to be brave. Finally, when entering the desert area, the tire pressure is low. However, I need to remind you that if you lack the experience of desert cross-country, don't try to challenge the deterrent power of nature alone. Any reckless behavior of desert cross-country white is stupid. In addition to the support of professional off-road vehicles, good driving skills, common sense and desert driving experience are essential.
The "best" of mankind is that it likes to challenge the unknown, but it is also the most precious thing of mankind, because the sense of accomplishment and joy gained by exploring the unknown is a process of self-baptism and sublimation. Between danger and achievement, both must be involved in the same link. Who doesn't want to be a brave man in the game?
After the first day's trip, the next morning, we set off from Aksai at an altitude of 1, 688 meters and went to Ya Dan on Uster. On the land of vast expanse, we crossed the plateau mountains of 3400 meters and drove along the winding mountain road.
High altitude, narrow roads, many bends and beautiful scenery are good enough. Fortunately, my mental state is good enough, and I have been to high-altitude areas several times, so my body did not have high reflexes. At the moment, the oxygen bottle and oxygen bag in the car did not show its demand. In the process of entering the high altitude mountainous area, there are almost all kinds of engineering vehicles and transport vehicles along the way. The driving speed is slow, which requires us to overtake many times on the premise of ensuring safety.
In order to obtain better instantaneous speed-up performance, when the gear is in the D gear, just push the electronic gear lever back one gear to enter the S gear mode. At this time, the 3.0T engine can respond quickly as long as the accelerator is deeply stepped on, and 8AT has given good cooperation in the process of continuous speed increase. The linearity of power output makes the driver have a better driving experience.
From uphill to downhill, driving the Audi Q7 surrounded by mountains on both sides, all this seems very comfortable. We drove all the way along the asphalt road and came to the Qaidam Basin surrounded by Kunlun Mountain, Qilian Mountain and Altun Mountain. For a pure southerner, for a child who grew up in Guangdong, more than 20 years later, when the place names such as Qilian Mountain Range, Altun Mountain Range and Qaidam Basin jumped out of the textbook and appeared in front of him, the nouns printed in his mind suddenly became so vivid and his thoughts were quite wonderful, not to mention driving across this land by himself. This experience is really extraordinary.
In uninhabited places, in real no-man's land, our mobile phones are in a state of no signal even at the end. Even the beautiful scenery, hundreds of kilometers of single scenery, can make people tired of watching. At this time, the only thing we can do is to listen to songs.

In this lifeless Gobi, a small town that once gathered tens of thousands of people for the development of oil industry in Qaidam, with the reduction of oil exploitation and the eastward shift of oil development strategy, who would have thought that there used to be hospitals, schools, factories, institutions and small towns full of humanistic atmosphere, but now they are just ruins.
Neat houses and spacious streets line up, but in front of us, it is a deserted land, and people are walking in the Leng Cha. There are collapsed houses and concrete floors everywhere. In this case, it is difficult for us to imagine the history of the rise and fall of this mysterious town. Perhaps more people only know that its prefecture-level city area code is 404, 1983. There has been an attack here, and there is no "oil town" mark on the map so far. It's a no-man's land that even navigation can't reach.
If you still remember, the location of the movie "Nine-story Demon Tower" is here, but the thrilling degree of the real picture is more touching than the scene in the movie. The story of the oil city is mixed with many "stories", and the mysterious color has attracted many road travel teams and tour groups to witness its decline. Even taking pictures can't record its dead silence. It is no exaggeration to describe the oil city as a "ghost town".

After leaving the oil town, we continued to go to the Mars camp, but on the way to the Mars camp, we need to cross a large no-man's land and gallop on a large Ya Dan landform. During the crossing, the road surface was very bumpy, and all kinds of washboard roads, which were crushed by cars and became extremely hard, almost knocked out the kidneys.
At this time, in order to ensure a better ride in all kinds of bumpy and complicated road conditions, we set the driving mode in the all-road mode, which is softer than the off-road mode, all for the sake of "kidney".
Mars camp is called "the place most like Mars on earth". A Mars landing camp was built here according to the Martian landform of Obolium. The camp provided 60 sleeping cabins and tents for 65,438+000 people. The construction of Mars camp is mainly used for education and scientific research.
Take the sleeping car as an example. Each sleeping cabin is independently designed, and the men's and women's sleeping cabins are two independent areas. According to the staff, it takes 1.500 yuan to sleep here for one night, and the sleeping cabin is equipped with electricity facilities such as lighting and charging port. The tent outside the camp is also very interesting. It was painted silver, simulating the accommodation conditions in the Mars camp. Of course, if you really live on Mars, both tents and the entire Mars camp will be built below the surface.
At Mars Camp, we met Liang Xiaohong, former Party Secretary and Vice President of China Academy of Launch Vehicles and Party Secretary of China High-tech Industrialization Research Association. As an astronaut who has worked in China's space field for a long time, he introduced us to the relevant space knowledge and the development of China's space industry.
Shi Lei, former editor-in-chief of China Aerospace News and former vice president of China Aerospace Publishing House, also introduced us the knowledge about "Fat Five" Long March 5 and Mars probe "Tian Wen No.1", and learned the knowledge of Mars exploration at the Mars base, which made us feel strong enough.

It was dusty along the way, and the road conditions fluctuated. The car body was already covered with a thick layer of dust, undeveloped scenic spots and unpaved dirt roads. Ya Dan landform is a typical wind erosion landform. In Uighur, Ya Dan is a steep mountain. In extremely arid areas, the lake water is cracked due to dry shrinkage, and the wind blows along the cracks, which finally creates this irregular dorsal fin ridge and wide shallow groove. Water Ya Dan is located in no man's land in Qaidam Basin. It was lifted by the surface of Lake Generes, and eventually flooded this hilly area of Ya Dan, becoming the only and only Ya Dan landform on water in the world.
During the day, Ya Dan on the water is like a Wang Yang, which is in sharp contrast with the surrounding Ya Dan landform. Many weather-beaten hills in Ya Dan stand on the lake, and lonely shadows are reflected on the crystal water under the setting sun, adding a touch of mystery to this dead world.
At night, Ya Dan on the water is like a teardrop. Under the irradiation of moonlight, the sparkling lake reflects the last desire for purity, as if everything in the world can fade here. But the Ya Dan on the water can't exist forever, and it will disappear in a few years. At this moment, we are fortunate to see Ya Dan on the blue or green water.
After seeing the scenery, we also expressed our feelings. That night, we lived in an RV and had a different camping trip. Before that, we also held a bonfire party, ate roast whole sheep, drank wine and blew the night wind at an altitude of 2693 meters. In the local Tibetan language, I hope all this is "Tashdele".
It began to rain outside before dawn at five o'clock, and the RV was thundered by raindrops. I woke up early and didn't want to sleep anymore. Fortunately, my mobile phone has no signal, and wifi is not good. I had nothing to do the night before, so I went to bed early to relieve the fatigue of the day before. On the third day of the journey, we will start from Ya Dan on the water and continue to drive the Audi Q7 to the final destination-Golmud.
Coming out of Ya Dan on the water, we took the "Most Beautiful expressway 3 15". After passing through two punch-in points of network celebrities, people saw a lot of traces of human beings. Because there are two U-shaped "Heavenly Roads" on G3 15 Highway, it has also become a place where many tourists and network celebrities punch in. Tourists have stopped and posed on the expressway, trying to leave the most beautiful pictures here in the camera and send them to friends.
But unfortunately, the tourists who come here to punch in completely ignore the traffic on the 3 15 national highway, sit directly in the middle of the road and force the vehicles to bypass everywhere. Even if big trucks honk their horns wildly, even if there are warning signs on the roadside telling them not to get off and take pictures, many tourists can't be alert to their weak safety awareness. Although the scenery is beautiful, safety comes first!
After getting off the national highway 3 15, we drove the Audi Q7 to Xiaochaidan Lake and Hongya. Although the distant mountains are shrouded in hazy air, the cold and clear water of Xiaochaidan Lake can still be used as the background for Q7 photos. Anyone who loves a car wants his car to leave a freeze-frame picture that blends in with the beautiful scenery passing by, and I am no exception. It's better to take beautiful photos by car.
Before entering Chibi, the whole section was actually quite relaxed. We will cross a Gobi desert, then climb a mountain, then cross the gravel and desert Gobi, and then we can smoothly enter the hinterland of Chibi, where we can have a small lunch, eat salad, eat chicken, drink mushroom soup, potatoes, corn, mutton kebabs and steak, and so on. Others think that we have established our life in a place where we seldom meet people.
However, during the three-day trip, ravines, Gobi desert, desert roads, mountain roads, plateaus and provincial/national roads are not the most exciting and difficult road conditions. The Hongya section that we crossed before going to Golmud from Hongya gave us a different experience.
As Hongya's terrain fluctuates greatly and the road conditions are uneven, we need to shuttle back and forth in various road conditions. In order to ensure the traffic of vehicles, the driving mode of Q7 is set to off-road mode, and panoramic images are turned on to observe the road conditions, and the chassis height is also adjusted to the highest.
In the whole process of crossing Chibi, the ground was covered with bilateral bridges, cross shafts, bullet holes and so on. Non-professional off-road vehicles are actually difficult to pass, especially the chassis passability and four-wheel drive performance. Audi Q7 is equipped with quattro full-time four-wheel drive system, and also equipped with a purely mechanical limited slip central differential lock. On the premise of not replacing AT tires, the powerful quattro system works at full load, which can provide higher stability and safety on wet and low-friction roads.
In addition, the pure mechanical central differential lock can transmit power to the front and rear axles at the ratio of 40:60, and the power distribution of the front and rear axles can reach 70:30 or even 15:85 in extreme cases. Quattro system can flexibly deal with all kinds of complex road conditions. When going downhill in the highlands, the steep slope will automatically intervene to control the downhill speed. On some slopes that are not particularly steep, the whole downhill process can be completed by automatic speed control of steep slope descent.
Under some steep road conditions, with the help of steep slope descent, the driver can successfully complete the whole downhill process as long as he controls the brakes and direction. Especially in some cross-axle sections, good power output is one of the key factors to provide relief, but Audi Q7 is not afraid of cross-axle challenges.
When the vehicle gets on the cross road and the front wheel starts to slip, the quattro four-wheel drive system will intervene strongly to distribute the power of the front wheel to the rear wheel, so that the rear wheel can provide greater power output. At this time, the front wheel idles for about 2 seconds, and the power can be transmitted back and forth, which provides a strong support for Q7 to get out of trouble.
On some soft sandy land, four wheels are easy to slip due to insufficient grip. At this time, the intervention of quattro four-wheel drive is very obvious, especially the rear wheel can provide low-speed 3-degree steering in the same direction, which can help the rear of the car to complete the turn better. During the three-day trip, it is normal to shuttle through the narrow section of the valley, and the rear wheel turns to make the car turn faster.
Audi quattro system played an important role in the process of crossing Chibi. As Audi's iconic technology product, quattro has been born for 40 years. After six generations of innovation, the concept of ultra-light weight has also been integrated, and the aluminum alloy hem arm has also effectively reduced the unsprung weight.

However, the impact of flying sand on the car body cannot but be alarming. Turning on the front and rear fog lights, reducing the speed, keeping the distance between cars and paying attention to observation have become a set of safe actions for us to cross the sandstorm, leaving the sandstorm area smoothly and continuing to the next stop.
Finally, before the exit of Golmud Expressway, green plants were printed everywhere on both sides of the expressway. At this moment, the mind seems to have been baptized and become extremely pure and thorough. After all, the ground in three days' eyes is yellow, black and red. At this moment, green makes people see the vitality and hope of life.
In three days, we set out from Dunhuang, Gansu, and finally arrived in Golmud, Qinghai. We went to the plateau and walked through the no man's land. We completed a crossing in a desolate and dead land, which is unforgettable for us who are used to seeing high-rise buildings in the city and have walked countless green roads.
The company and guarantee of Audi Q7 all the way made us feel close to danger.
