After the abdication of the Qing court in the Revolution of 1911, aristocratic children made a living by selling antique calligraphy and painting, which gradually became popular here. Its highlight moment was in the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, especially after the emergence of "Tongtaisheng" and "Shuangshengtai", two shops mainly engaged in smoking utensils. These two shops were the most famous and stylish in Xiejie, and their covers were also the most eye-catching, so the people called it Yandai Xiejie.
