The importance of Piraeus Port

Piraeus Port is a pearl in the construction of the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road". On August 10, 2016, COSCO Shipping Group officially became the major shareholder of Piraeus Port Authority and began to take over the operations of Piraeus Port Authority.

The Port of Piraeus has a superior geographical location. It is not only a major port after the Maritime Silk Road enters Europe, but also can be connected to the "Silk Road Economic Belt" through the China-Europe Land-Sea Express Line. In the blueprint drawn by the “Belt and Road Initiative”, the construction of the Piraeus Port project is becoming a model of strategic cooperation between the two countries, and will further promote mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Greece in various fields such as infrastructure, trade, shipping, and tourism.
