Star-rated hotel rating process

The "National Tourism Star-Rated Hotel Rating Committee" (not the National Tourism Star-Rated Hotel Rating Committee) is the only highest organization responsible for the national hotel star rating work . The National Star Judges has an office as an administrative agency (hereinafter referred to as the "National Star Judges Office").

The National Star Judges Office is located at the Secretariat of the China Tourist Hotels Association, and its office address is: National Tourism Administration, No. 9 A, Jianguomen Nei Street, Beijing. Five-star hotels are subject to critical review in the third year after the rating or critical review. Since 2013, they have been adjusted to accept critical review after three years.

After a hotel submits a five-star application, the local tourist hotel star rating agency will review the preliminary rating and then submit it step by step to the national star reviewer, who will appoint inspectors to conduct inspection and evaluation. The inspection is divided into two parts. One part is an open inspection, which is a comprehensive inspection of the hotel's hardware facilities. The hotel must reach 420 points out of 610 points for hardware to enter the next step, which is the unannounced inspection part.

The star judges come to the hotel as guests, conduct unannounced visits on the hotel’s cleanliness, service quality, maintenance, etc. without letting the hotel know, and rate the hotel during the unannounced visits. The hotel must pass with a score rate of 92% or above, and will be awarded a five-star logo and certificate by the National Star Judges. After the star rating is passed, the national star judges will review the five-star hotel once a year.
