It was founded in 1979 and moved from Tianshui Chenghuang Temple to Tianshui Fuxi Temple in 1986. The ancient buildings are large in scale, strewn at random, with towering cypresses, tree-lined, quiet and lush vegetation. It is a key cultural relic protection unit in Gansu Province.

Hu's former residence consists of two ancient buildings, Nanzhaizi and Beizhaizi, which face each other across the street. Nanwu and Beiwu are the best preserved Ming Dynasty dwellings in Tianshui.
