The starting point of the Long March of the 25th Red Army is located in Hejiachong, Tiepu Town, Luoshan County, Henan Province, at the western end of the Dabie Mountains. It is an important part of the Henan, Hubei and Anhui revolutionary base areas. The current Hejiachong Red Tourist Scenic Spot mainly includes three parts: the former site of the 25th Red Army Military Headquarters, the site of the Long March starting point and the former site of the 25th Red Army Hospital. In 1996, the starting point of the Long March of the 25th Red Army was announced by the State Council as the fourth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

He's Temple was once the headquarters of the 25th Red Army. On November 16, 1934, the 25th Red Army gathered under the big ginkgo tree at the head of the village and held high the banner of the Red Army of Chinese Workers and Peasants as they marched north to fight against Japan. The old ginkgo tree in front of He's Temple is more than 800 years old and has witnessed the impassioned fighting spirit of more than a thousand soldiers in those days.

One month after the Central Red Army set off on its Long March, the 25th Red Army began its Long March west of the Ping-Han Railway. The departing force was known to the outside world as the "Second Advance Team of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army Going North to Resist Japan", leaving behind a regiment and local armed forces to rebuild the 28th Red Army and continue the struggle in the Hubei-Henan-Anhui revolutionary base areas.

The 25th Red Army was the first of the four Long March troops of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army to arrive in northern Shaanxi. It made important contributions to welcoming the Party Central Committee and the Central Red Army’s arrival in northern Shaanxi to establish the northern Shaanxi base area.
