Kyoto, in fact, you don't understand: experts know the way to enjoy.
Kiyomizu Temple is crowded at any time. It is said that there are as many as five million tourists every year. Although the congestion has become more serious in recent years, it is a definite choice to take friends to Kiyomizu Temple if they visit Kyoto but have no special attractions.
In addition to the temple itself, cherry blossoms, new greens and red leaves are beautiful in any season. In front of the main hall of Kiyomizu Temple, there are Zhang Xixi and Tiemu Clogs, which weigh 90 kilograms and are said to be used for chemical celebrations, as well as the wet water Guanyin, which has been shining because of the people who make wishes, and so on. There are many places to see.
If you pass Shimizu Sakamoto, Ernian Sakamoto, Sannian Sakamoto (Qian Ning Sakamoto) and Tea Bowl Sakamoto, you can not only taste traditional diets such as soup tofu or raw bean skin, but also buy various local products and bones made of Shimizu, Pu 'an and Qiwei. It is also a temple full of sightseeing atmosphere.
Incidentally, it is said that the "three-year-old Sakamoto" who will die within three years after falling down can actually be called "Qian Ning Sakamoto". It is because people who come to pray for a natural birth will be very serious if they fall down on a steep slope, so I hope everyone will pay attention to safety when walking, and such taboos will spread. Even if you accidentally fall down, it is said that buying gourds sold on the hillside can also eliminate the disaster. Please rest assured.
Speaking of Kiyomizu Temple, the first thing that comes to mind is Kiyomizu Terrace. Saying it's a stage may make people wonder why there is no audience for us to watch. In fact, it is a stage for performing various skills to reward the Buddha, and the audience is the Buddha.
We can see the beautiful scenery below from the stage, and we also recommend seeing the street view of Kyoto from the Austrian Academy opposite the Shimizu Stage. Personally, I think the Shimizu stage is also beautiful from below, and I can appreciate its solemn beauty.
Another famous thing of Kiyomizu Temple is the lingering sound spring. Yuyin Spring is one of the famous waters in Japan, and it is also the origin of the temple name Shimizu. Three tiny streams of water flowed down the long aqueduct, and people caught them with long-handled spoons and drank them.
Although the current is small, it flows down from a height and has a certain intensity. It is unexpectedly difficult to hold water steadily. In addition, if it is the tourist season, people who receive water will queue up for a long time and can't taste the famous water slowly.
Travel books will say that these three streams can help realize different wishes such as health and longevity, study and marriage. But in fact, which stream corresponds to which wish is not clearly written on the long pipe of water diversion. Kiyomizu Temple itself is only called "Golden Water" and "Life-prolonging Water", and it is regarded as clean water, and its functionality is not emphasized.
Most importantly, you can only choose one of the streams and have a drink. If you are too greedy, drink all the third-rate drinks and take two or three sips respectively, your wish will not come true. What will happen may depend on the wishes of the wisher, but the main purpose is to teach everyone not to be too greedy when wishing.
Another thing I hope you can experience in Kiyomizu Temple is the "in utero trip".
The Suiqiu Temple, which is located on the front through the Wang Ren Gate, is dedicated to the great Suiqiu Bodhisattva who can satisfy all your wishes, but it is not open to visitors because it is a secret Buddha. Therefore, the underground passage of this temple is open. Just touch the Sanskrit written on the stone directly below the Buddha statue, and you can make a wish and get it.
In the darkness of the bodhisattva's opaque body, everyone walked forward with a big Buddha bead as an armrest. Some are serious, and some are in the mood of visiting the haunted house in the amusement park. This is also a place where people have different feelings according to the weight of everyone's wishes.
It may be that people who visit Kiyomizu Temple have a strong desire, and there are other gods here that I would like to call "Tibetan-restricted". They are two Tibetan bodhisattvas who are called "shaking their heads to hide the soil" and "hiding the soil for a limited time".
The Tibetan Bodhisattva is enshrined in the Zen Temple at the foot of the stone ladder of Renwangmen in Qingshui Temple. The head of the Bodhisattva Diksitigarbha can be moved, and it is said that it is necessary to turn the head of the Bodhisattva Diksitigarbha to the direction of realizing the wish. Recently, as long as you make a wish in the direction of the person you like, love can blossom and bear fruit.
