Zhuanghang town's specialty

Zhuang hang tu bu

Zhuanghang Plaid-another name for Zhuanghang homespun, from the early Yuan Dynasty to the first year, due to the introduction of cotton textile technology from Huang Daopo to the local area, a large number of skilled people emerged. They planted cotton and made cloth at home with exquisite craftsmanship, which became one of the birthplaces of Shanghai homespun and had the reputation of "clothes are the best in the world". By the Qing Dynasty, Zhuangxing's homespun technology was one of the best in the south of the Yangtze River, so that it was recorded in Fengxian County Records during the Qianlong period: "Songjiang is the best cloth in this world, especially Fengxian Zhuangxingyun."

In 2009, Zhuanghang homespun dyeing and weaving technology was listed as the intangible cultural heritage protection project in Shanghai. In the process of protecting, inheriting and developing the intangible culture of homespun, Zhuanghang Town strives to create a creative brand of "Zhuanghang Plaid" with the help of the resources of District Bureau of Culture and Broadcasting, Tourism Bureau, Shanghai Visual Art School and other parties, around the unique plaid pattern of homespun and incorporating modern fashion elements.
