Historical evolution
The current Liaoyang County started from Yan in the Warring States Period, passed through the Qin and Han Dynasties, and ended with the Later Yan of the Sixteen Kingdoms of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. It all belongs to the Liaodong County (country) Xiangping County (now Liaoyang City). After the Northern Yan Dynasty, through the Southern and Northern Dynasties until the Sui Dynasty, this area was a separatist regime established by Goguryeo. After Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty regained Liaodong, he established the Liaocheng Prefectural Capital in present-day Liaoyang City. During the Five Dynasties, this place was already the active area of ??the Khitan people. After Yelu Abaoji established the Liao Dynasty regime, in the 13th year of Tianxian reign of Emperor Taizong of the Liao Dynasty (actually the first year of Huitong, 938), "Nanjing was renamed Tokyo, and the government was renamed Liaoyang." The name of Liaoyang in the Liao Dynasty "comes from the fact that Tang people's poems and articles referred to Liaodong as Liaoyang, so it was named after it." Now Liaoyang is east of the Liaohe River. It was called Tokyo Liaoyang Prefecture in Liao Dynasty, Tokyo Road Liaoyang Prefecture in Jin Dynasty, Liaoyang Road in Yuan Dynasty, and Liaodong Dusi in Ming Dynasty. In the 10th year of Shunzhi in Qing Dynasty (1653), Liaoyang Prefecture and Liaoyang County were established. In the third year of Kangxi's reign (1664), the county was promoted to a state. In the third year of the Republic of China (1914), Liaoyang Prefecture was renamed Liaoyang County. During the period of Japanese imperialist occupation, it still belonged to Liaoyang County. After the victory of the "September 3rd" in 1945, it was still located in Liaoyang County. In October 1949, the People's Republic of China was established and cities and counties were divided into cities and counties under the jurisdiction of Liaodong Province. In 1954, the city and county were merged into Liaoning Province, and Liaoyang City became a provincial municipality. In 1956, it belonged to Liaoyang Prefecture. The special area was abolished in 1958, and Liaoyang County was merged into Liaoyang City in 1959 and placed under the leadership of Anshan City. In 1961, Liaoyang County was restored and divided into cities and counties, both under the jurisdiction of Anshan City. In 1966, Liaoyang County was transferred to the leadership of Liaonan Prefecture. In 1968, the city and county were merged and became Anshan City. On April 15, 1980, with the approval of the State Council, Liaoyang County was restored. Today it is a county under the jurisdiction of Liaoyang City.
