Tourism strategy of Confucius Temple in Tainan

The Confucius Temple in Tainan is the oldest and relatively complete one in Taiwan. Since its construction, it has been repaired for more than 1 times, but it has basically maintained the old system. The entire Confucius Temple, facing south, is magnificent and solemn. It is built in imitation of ancient palace-style houses and belongs to South Chinese architecture. The roof is a traditional double-eaves, yellow glazed roof tiles, and the two ends of the roof are tilted, which is very beautiful. On a horizontal plaque at the temple gate, the words "the first study in Taiwan" were inscribed in gold, and the handwriting was vigorous and powerful, which added to the solemnity of the Confucius Temple.

Dacheng Hall is the center of the whole temple. In the father-son era of Zheng Chenggong, imperial academy was the highest institution of learning at that time, specializing in imperial examinations. In the Qing Dynasty, it was changed to the Taiwan Province government school, which was called "the first school in Taiwan". The center of Dacheng Hall is dedicated to the spirit tablet of Confucius, the most holy teacher. On the temple beam above the spirit tablet, there are still many precious imperial plaques given by the Qing emperor, among which, Kangxi's "Master for All Generations", Qianlong's "Participating in Heaven and Earth", Xianfeng's "Deqi" and Guangxu's "Sven Zaizi" overlap with each other. Different from other Confucius temples, Dacheng Hall of Tainan Confucius Temple has neither side columns nor corridors, and is supported by cantilever beams protruding from thick walls. On both sides, the east and west guards accompanied the memorial tablets of 72 disciples of Confucius and the sages of previous dynasties. Connected to the north of Dong 'an is a ritual library, and connected to the north of Xi 'an is a musical instrument library, which preserves ancient ritual instruments for use when offering sacrifices to the Confucius. The two guards were handed over to the Chongsheng Temple. Worship shrine is also called "Temple of the Sage", in which five generations of ancestors of Confucius and Confucius' brothers are sacrificed.

There is a terrace in front of Dacheng Hall, and there is a Stargate in front of the terrace, which is usually closed, only when the ceremony of offering sacrifices to the hole is held, and then closed after the ceremony. There are "Minghuan Temple", "Xiangxian Temple", "Filial Piety Temple" and "Festival Filial Piety Temple" on the east and west sides of Lingxingmen. There is also a simple and elegant "Minglun Hall", which is a place where Confucianism teaches ethics, where students are taught and disciplined by academic officials, which is equivalent to the classroom of government studies. On the front wall of Minglun Hall, there are eight Zhao Mengfu-style remains of The University, which are extremely precious, with only four remaining. Behind Minglun Hall is Wenchang Pavilion, a three-story tower-shaped building, which is the tallest building in Confucius Temple. Worship Wenchang emperor and use it as a library.

There is a wall outside the Xingxing Gate, which separates the temple (Dacheng Hall) from the school (Minglun Hall). There is a small gate to the east and west of the fence, namely, the Ritual Gate and the Righteousness Road, which are like two small archways, indicating the master's way of respecting ceremony and upholding righteousness. There is also a half-moon pool in front of the Lingxingmen, which is called Panchi. There is an arch bridge on the Panchi, also called Panqiao. Ancient scholars were admitted as scholars, and after they went to the Confucius Temple to worship, they had to pick cress in Panchi and put it on the brim of their hats to show their literary talent. Now the scientific research system has been cancelled, but the fountain is still connected with the green shade in front of the court and has become a tourist attraction for people. There is also a "Xiama Monument" outside Dongdachengmen, which was set up during the reign of Kangxi, and it was written in Manchu and Chinese that "civil and military officials, soldiers and civilians have dismounted here". Anyone who comes here must get off the horse and walk into the Confucius Temple to show respect for Confucius. There is also a Pangong Stone Square outside the gate, which was built to rebuild the Confucius Temple during the Qianlong period. Because of the construction of Nanmen Road, the stone square is separated from the main building in two places, and the vigorous archway stands aside, imposing and spectacular.

Every year, September 28th of the lunar calendar is the birthday of Confucius, the most holy teacher, and it is also the Teacher's Day in Taiwan Province. According to the ancient system, the Tainan Municipal Government will hold a grand ceremony to pay homage to Confucius here. The crowd will gather and ten thousand people will worship, which is solemn and grand, and it is very lively.
