People's Daily Online, Beijing, March 10 According to the website of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in 2019, the tourism economy continued to grow faster than GDP growth. The domestic tourism market and outbound tourism market have grown steadily, and the foundation of the inbound tourism market has become more solid. Throughout the year, the number of domestic tourists was 6.006 billion, an increase of 8.4% over the same period last year; the total number of inbound and outbound tourists was 300 million, an increase of 3.1% year-on-year; the total tourism revenue for the year was 6.63 trillion yuan, an increase of 11% year-on-year. The comprehensive contribution of tourism to GDP is 10.94 trillion yuan, accounting for 11.05% of total GDP. Tourism directly employs 28.25 million people, and tourism directly and indirectly employs 79.87 million people, accounting for 10.31% of the total employed population in the country.

1. Domestic tourism revenue increased by 11.7%

According to the results of the domestic tourism sample survey, the number of domestic tourists was 6.006 billion, an increase of 8.4% over the same period last year. Among them, 4.471 billion were urban residents, an increase of 8.5%; 1.535 billion were rural residents, an increase of 8.1%. Domestic tourism revenue was 5.73 trillion yuan, an increase of 11.7% over the same period last year. Among them, urban residents spent 4.75 trillion yuan, an increase of 11.6%; rural residents spent 0.97 trillion yuan, an increase of 12.1%.

2. The number of inbound tourists by foreigners increased by 4.4%

The number of inbound tourists was 145 million, an increase of 2.9% over the same period last year. Among them: 31.88 million foreigners, an increase of 4.4%; 80.50 million Hong Kong compatriots, an increase of 1.4%; 26.79 million Macao compatriots, an increase of 6.5%; and 6.13 million Taiwanese compatriots, basically the same as the same period last year. The number of inbound tourists was divided according to the mode of entry, with ships accounting for 2.9%, airplanes accounting for 17.4%, trains accounting for 2.6%, cars accounting for 21.2%, and walking accounting for 55.8%.

The number of inbound overnight tourists was 65.73 million, an increase of 4.5% over the same period last year. Among them: 24.93 million foreigners, an increase of 5.5%; 29.17 million Hong Kong compatriots, an increase of 3.5%; 6.11 million Macao compatriots, an increase of 10.4%; and 5.52 million Taiwanese compatriots, a decrease of 0.2%.

3. International tourism revenue reached US$131.3 billion

International tourism revenue reached US$131.3 billion, an increase of 3.3% over the same period last year. Among them: foreigners spent US$77.1 billion in China, an increase of 5.4%; Hong Kong compatriots spent US$28.5 billion in the mainland, a decrease of 2.0%; Macao compatriots spent US$9.5 billion in the mainland, an increase of 9.4%; Taiwanese compatriots spent US$16.2 billion in the mainland, down 0.2%.

4. Inbound foreign tourists account for 75.9% from Asia, and tourists for sightseeing and leisure account for 35.0%

Among the number of inbound foreign tourists (including border residents from neighboring countries), Asia accounts for 75.9%, America accounts for 7.7%, Europe accounts for 13.2%, Oceania accounts for 1.9%, and Africa accounts for 1.4%. Among them: by age, 3.8% are under 14 years old, 13.9% are 15-24 years old, 49.3% are 25-44 years old, 28.1% are 45-64 years old, and 4.9% are over 65 years old; by gender, males Accounting for 58.7%, women accounted for 41.3%; according to purpose, business meetings accounted for 13.0%, sightseeing and leisure accounted for 35.0%, visiting relatives and friends accounted for 3.0%, service employees accounted for 14.7%, and others accounted for 34.3%.

In order of the number of inbound tourists, the top 20 countries in my country’s main international tourist source markets are as follows: Myanmar, Vietnam, South Korea, Russia, Japan, the United States, Mongolia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, India, Thailand, and Canada , Australia, Indonesia, Germany, the United Kingdom, North Korea, France, and Italy (including Myanmar, Vietnam, Mongolia, India, and North Korea including the number of border residents traveling to China).
