This was the impression of architect Liang Sicheng when he visited the temple in the early 1940s. On the front of the main hall of the temple are the "Three Saints of the West" (Amitabha sitting in the middle, Guanyin and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattvas flanking him on the left and right), and the wooden statue of the "Three Saints of Huayan" (Sakyamuni sitting in the middle, Manjusri and Samantabhadra flanking him) behind the wall, 1956. In the twelfth year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1533), after Wuye Zen Master Daocheng rebuilt the temple, he asked Yang Shen, who stayed in the temple, to write the "Notes on the Reconstruction of Caoxi Temple" (the stele is now in the back hall). Yang pointed out that this temple is the dojo of Huineng, the sixth ancestor of Zen Buddhism, and it is in the same vein as the Caoxi water where Huineng was stationed, which is a metaphor for the "flow of law". He then introduced that there is a small spring (later known as "holy water") near the temple, and the flow is particularly large three times a day. ("Incoming tide"). Later generations dug a pond under the spring to store water.

The stele is about 2.81 meters high and 1.5 meters wide. It has 34 lines with 53 characters in each line and 10 characters on the forehead. Both the inscription and the forehead are in correct writing. Wang Renqiu was a minister of the Tang Dynasty, but when the monument was erected, Wu Zetian proclaimed himself emperor and changed the country's name to Zhou. Therefore, the title of the monument is "Stele of the Former Governor of Hedong Prefecture of the Great Zhou Dynasty". This stele has not been recorded before the Qing Dynasty. During the Qianlong period, Wang Chang, an epigrapher, came to Yunnan and read the provincial annals. He learned that the tomb of Wang Renqiu, the governor of the Tang Dynasty, was lying on the lush green mountain in Anning. The tomb had been abandoned for a long time, but the stele still existed. Ask someone to return it, add an inscription and postscript, and collect it in Volume 62 of Jinshi Cuibian. Since then, it has spread widely. The inscription was written by Lu Qiujun of Chengdu and written by Wang Renqiu's eldest son Wang Shanbao. Lu Qiujun was a famous scribe in the early Tang Dynasty. Du Fu was very close to him when he was in Chengdu. Du Fu also highly praised his calligraphy: "It is said that Lu Qiujun's pen is even more impressive than Kunlun." This Lu Qiujun also often wrote inscriptions on inscriptions. , and the work is very good, "On the east side of the green snow ridge, the old stele remains." ("Du Gongbu Collection" Volume 14, "Gift to Brother Luqiu, a Monk of Shu") Judging from Wang Renqiu's stele, the words are magnificent and the writing is beautiful. It is consistent with Du Fu's evaluation of him. In the inscription of more than 1,600 words, Lu Qiujun described Wang Renqiu's family background, talents and achievements in detail. The key points are: Wang Renqiu, a native of Anning County, came from a family of officials. He was smart at a young age, practiced literature and martial arts, and had a talent for managing things. He had the strategy of protecting the border people." He later served as the governor of Hedong Prefecture and added In the army, he can pay attention to using the benefits of mountains, forests, rivers and swamps to develop production.
