Introduce Taoyuan City, Taiwan
Taoyuan City is located in the northwest of Taiwan Island, on the Taoyuan Platform. It is known as Taiwan's "Air Gate" because of the famous Taoyuan International Airport.
Taoyuan City was formerly known as "Hu Mao Village" and "Taoyuan Tsai". It is the fourth community of the Gaoshan ethnic group (Pingpu people) in the south. When Zheng Chenggong governed Taiwan, it was under Tianxing County. During the Japanese occupation period, it initially belonged to Taipei County, and later Taoyuan Hall was established. After the liberation of Taiwan, a town was established in 1950 and served as the county seat of Taoyuan County. In 1977, it was upgraded from a town to a county-level city.
The terrain of Taoyuan City slopes from northeast to southwest and is located in the contact zone between Linkou Platform and Taoyuan Platform, with an average altitude of about 100 meters. Nanxun River flows through the northwest of the city, and the railway runs through the south of the city. Taoyuan Railway Station is the first first-class and second-class station going south from Taipei Station. There are 50 upstream and downstream passenger buses stopping at this station every day. The North-South Expressway passes through the northwest part of the city and is equipped with the Taoyuan Interchange and the Taoyuan Airport Interchange, making it Taipei's first land transportation hub to the south.
Taoyuan International Airport was built in Dayuan Township near Taoyuan City in 1974, with connections to Hong Kong, Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Seoul, Singapore, Bangkok, Hawaii, New York, Los Angeles and other major cities in the world. There are more than 60 regular routes and an air mileage of nearly 380,000 kilometers, which has greatly increased Taoyuan City’s external transportation status.
Taoyuan City is one of the first places to transform from an agricultural economy to an industrial and commercial economy. In 1966, the city's first comprehensive industrial zone was established on the south side of the railway in Taoyuan City, covering an area of ??127 hectares. In 1976, a northern specific industrial zone focusing on the petrochemical industry was established, covering an area of ??478 hectares. It is one of the large industrial zones in the province. The total area of ??these two industrial zones reaches more than 600 hectares, making them the largest industrial zones in northern Taiwan. The development of industry not only solved the employment problem of the urban population, but also absorbed the surplus labor force in nearby rural areas, causing the city's population to nearly triple in more than ten years from 100,000 in the late 1970s. Since the mid-1960s, Taoyuan has The city has been carrying out large-scale construction projects, widening roads, building new residences, and increasing public facilities. However, compared with the rapid development of industry and commerce, the development of culture and education in Taoyuan City is relatively slow. There is only one art college in the city that was established in the early 1990s by the "Art College".
