1, Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes
Mogao Grottoes is one of the most famous grottoes in China, and it is considered as the most valuable cultural discovery in the 20th century. Dunhuang, located at the western end of Hexi Corridor, is famous for its exquisite murals and statues. Founded in the pre-Qin period of sixteen countries, it has formed a huge scale after sixteen countries, Northern Dynasties, Sui and Tang Dynasties, Five Dynasties, Xixia and Yuan Dynasties.

2. Yungang Grottoes in Datong

3. Longmen grottoes

4. Dazu Stone Carving
Dazu Stone Carving is located in Dazu District, Chongqing. Now it is a world cultural heritage and one of the eight largest grottoes in the world. 5. Maijishan Grottoes
Maijishan Grottoes is one of the four largest grottoes in China. Digging hundreds of caves and Buddha statues on steep cliffs is rare in China. Surrounded by lush trees in Yamazaki, surrounded by streams and rocks, the scenery is beautiful. Known as the "Little Jiangnan", it is known as the "crown of nymphs in Qin Dynasty". The art of Maijishan Grottoes is famous at home and abroad for its exquisite clay sculptures.
6. Bingling Temple Grottoes
Bingling Temple Grottoes, located 80 kilometers southwest of Lanzhou, are cultural treasures on the Silk Road. They are the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units announced by the State Council. Although the number is small, it reflects the social outlook, music, dance and decorative arts of the people in northwest China during the Sixteen Kingdoms period.
The most striking thing about Bingling Temple Grottoes is sitting on the rock wall. The largest Maitreya sitting Buddha in the Tang Dynasty is 27 meters high, and its sculpture is lifelike, which fully shows the superb skills of artists in the Northern Wei Dynasty. The smallest statue in the grottoes is only 10cm high, so some people call Bingling Temple Grottoes "China Grottoes Encyclopedia".
7. Cliff Statue of the Sleeping Buddha Temple
Anyue Grottoes, dating from 1400 years ago, is a national key cultural relics protection unit. Anyue Grottoes run east-west. There are 138 large and small niches carved on the 0.5 km long cliff, including 84 Buddhist statues, accounting for 1593, among which the statue of Sakyamuni lying on the left is more spectacular.
The reclining Buddha is 23 meters long, with a head length of 3 meters and a shoulder width of 3. 1 meter. His head is east and his feet are west. He lies on the cliffs on the south and left 5 meters above the ground. Most of Anyue Grottoes are well preserved, especially in the Song Dynasty, which reached the peak of China Grottoes' art and has high ornamental value.
8. Xumishan Grottoes Scenic Area
Xumishan Grottoes is a large-scale artistic statue of Xumishan Grottoes in the Northern Dynasties, Sui and Tang Dynasties. It is a rare scenic spot on the Loess Plateau in northwest China and has important artistic value. It is one of the top ten grottoes in China.
The grottoes are located in Xu Mi in the north of Liupanshan Mountain. There are more than 150 grottoes in it, which are distributed on 8 peaks 2 kilometers apart. The fifth grotto (the Great Buddha Pagoda) is a huge cliff statue niche. The Buddha sitting in the niche is 20.6 meters high and is one of the largest Buddha statues in the Tang Dynasty.
9. Tiantai Mountain Grottoes in Wuwei
Tiantishan Grottoes, about 1600 years ago, is one of the earliest excavated grottoes in China, the representative of early grottoes art in China, the source of Yungang Grottoes and Longmen Grottoes, which occupies an important position in the history of Buddhism in China and is known as the "originator of grottoes". In the grottoes, the giant Buddha sits by the mountain, with blue waves and thin clouds under his feet, which constitute a spectacular spectacle of mountains, water, Buddha and clouds, and is a famous tourist attraction in Liangzhou.
Qizil Thousand Buddha Cave 10
The Thousand-Buddha Cave in Qizil in China Grottoes is the largest cave group with the earliest excavation and the westernmost geographical location in China. It was excavated in the 3rd century, earlier than the Mogao Grottoes, and gradually stopped construction in the 8th-9th century. Its duration is unique to all countries in the world. Qizil Grottoes belong to the territory of ancient Qiuci, which is one of the birthplaces of Qiuci Grottoes. Its grotto architecture art, sculpture art and mural art occupy an extremely important position in Buddhist art in Central Asia and the Middle East.
