Is it fun to travel independently in Peru?
Peru is adjacent to Ecuador and Colombia in the north and Brazil and Bolivia in the east. It is a tourist destination. This time it is a travel guide for the small town of Oyantai in Peru. If you are interested, take a look and I will use it in the future. It’s worthy.
Oyantai is a small town 73 kilometers away from Cusco, with only more than 1,000 residents. According to information from the Ouyantai Tourism Office, Oyantai Town is the only Inca-era village that is still inhabited. Visitors can explore the secrets of Inca culture from the ruined steps. Visitors can see how people lived before Western culture. It is not only the first stop into Machu Picchu, but also the gateway to the times.
Before the end of April this year, the train from Cusco to Machu Picchu will be adjusted to BUS+TRAIN, and the frequency will be reduced. The starting point of the train is no longer at the Cusco train station. You have to take a bus and then change to a train, which is very expensive. After searching the official Peruvian train website, I learned that the train from Oyantai to Machu Picchu is operating normally with many departures. In addition, many netizens said that Ouyantai is suitable for leisure and the environment is excellent. Ouyantai is 2,800 meters above sea level. In order to avoid the discomfort of altitude sickness, we decided to charter a car at the airport after Lima flew to Cusco and go to Ouyantai. After resting for two days, we headed to the most important stop
— Machu Picchu. The taxi ride from Cusco to Oyantai takes about 2 hours and costs 100 pesos (1 pesos = 2RMB). If you take the bus, it costs 10 pesos per person and there are many buses.
Enter the small town of Ouyantai, surrounded by mountains, and you can feel the strong traditional atmosphere of Inca culture under the blue sky and white clouds. Ou Yantai is the name of a general who fell in love with the daughter of the ninth Inca king. However, the marriage proposal was blocked and the princess was placed under house arrest. Ou Yantai rebelled against the king, occupied a castle, gave birth to a daughter, and lived in love with each other for ten years. In the end, the king used a trick to capture Ou Yantai. The tenth Inca king was moved by Oyantai's story, pardoned them, and let them get married. The touching story of Ou Yantai has been left in the world. Later generations built a temple in memory of Ou Yantai, but unfortunately it was not completed, leaving only an outline. There is now a huge rock on the mountain that looks like a human face. Locals say Ouyantai has never left. This touching Ouyantai legend is enough to impress tourists.
The SOL Hotel where we stayed is near the square, facing the mountain, and we can overlook the mountain climbing scene. When you open the balcony door, you can hear the sound of flowing water in the stream, and the outer wall is covered with small rose-colored flowers.
You can see the living conditions of local people around the central square (PLAZA
MAYOR). Most residents wear traditional clothing. The women have black hair, and both the old and the young have braids. The most common one is carrying a colorful striped woven scarf across the body, which contains things or a baby. They don't speak English, but they are honest and friendly. You need to pay them a tip for taking pictures, 1

pesos is enough. The old man will refuse to accept 1 US dollar bills, so be prepared. Peso change. A lady at the front desk told us that the old people in Ouyantai advocate and inherit the lifestyle of the Inca era. They eat more corn, do not smoke or drink, love to work, and many of them live a long life. People in the town believe in the sun god, especially the elderly.
The main tourist project of Ouyantai is to climb Ouyantai. Buses are carrying tourists in droves. Sun hats and crutches are sold at the entrance. There are package tickets for attractions in Cusco and Ountai, which include different attractions. The prices are 70 and 130 pesos respectively, and there are no individual tickets. There are ruins such as the Temple of the Sun and magical boulders on the mountain. If you are physically fit, you can climb up the terraces. There are also steps on the side. If you are interested, you can walk from morning to sunset. We gave up climbing. Looking from a distance, we saw that there were very few people on the mountain. Under the blue sky and white clouds, tourists wearing various colors of clothing were exploring the relics of the ancient Inca life.
People at the INFO office told us that March is the off-season, with about a thousand tourists a day. In the peak season, there are 3,000 to 4,000 people, and hotels and inns are all full. The mountain that tourists climb is called PINKKUYFLUNA, which is the favorite project of tourists. There are many Inca festivals in May and there are performances in the square. Ouyantai has a rainy season and a dry season throughout the year, with temperatures ranging from 15 degrees to 25 degrees throughout the year. The town now has a primary school and a middle school. Many young people have gone to Cusco to study and work, and there are more elderly people in the town.
There are many restaurants around the square, and there are markets and small shops nearby where you can buy fruits, biscuits, scones, cheese, etc.
Ouyantai streets have stone pavements, stone houses, cactus hanging fruits on the eaves, and small rose flowers blooming all over the branches. Ancient water channels run along the houses, and residents wash their clothes in the water channels. There are many hotels and inns of different sizes. Wandering in the streets and taking photos, it really feels like stepping back in time. We stayed in Ouyantai for 3 nights. Since our subsequent itinerary was scheduled, we had to leave. It would be very pleasant to stay there for a while if we have enough time.
The Ouyantai Railway Station is not far from the square. It is a ten-minute walk. There is a slope. To save energy, you can take a tricycle for 6 pesos one way. There is a ticket office at the train station, and you can buy train tickets to Machu Picchu one day in advance during the off-season. There is a bus station next to it, and there are many minibuses to Cusco and other places. Ouyantai is a mature travel destination. At the hotel, you can get free maps and other information from the INFO office.
As for high-reflection, we basically have no obvious reaction. The hotel provides tea made from the leaves of a plant, which is said to reduce high reflexes.
On the way back to Cusco, where the altitude is 3,390 meters, we bought SOROJCHI tablets at Oyantai Pharmacy, 10 tablets for 30 pesos. We were told to take one tablet three times a day, saying that the main ingredients were aspirin, Fenbid and caffeine. After taking it, we tried to reduce strenuous activities in Cusco. Apart from not sleeping well, there was no obvious high reaction.
The temperature in Ouyantai in March is low in the morning and evening, so you need to wear a sweater or a jacket. The hotel provides camel hair quilts. The sun in South America is very strong at noon, so you need sun protection.
