Brief introduction of botanical garden

Xiamen Garden Botanical Garden, commonly known as "Shiwan Botanical Garden", is located in Shiwan, the southeast corner of Xiamen Island, Fujian Province, backed by Nanputuo and Wulaofeng, and close to Zhongshan Road business circle, belonging to 4A-level scenic spots. Founded in 1960, covering an area of 4.93 square kilometers, it is the first botanical garden in Fujian Province and an important part of Gulangyu Island, a national key scenic spot in Shiwan, integrating plant landscape, natural landscape and human landscape. 1

Advantage analysis of botanical garden

Tourism resources: From the establishment of Xiamen Garden and Botanical Garden in 1960 to 20 14, Xiamen Botanical Garden has introduced and collected more than 7,000 species (including varieties), and built pine forest, rose garden, bamboo trail, palm island, desert plant area, cedar forest grassland, rainforest plant world, liana plant area, flower garden and medicinal plants. There are more than 200 rare and protected plants in the park, such as camellia, Alsophila spinulosa, pencil tree, ginkgo, Metasequoia glyptostroboides, Taxus chinensis and Cycas. 2

In addition to plants, there are many landscapes in the Botanical Garden, such as "Morning Bell in the Sky", "Learning in the Qin Cave", "Locking Clouds in the Stone Bay", "Zhong Yan Yu Chan", "Tai Xiao Pingshi" and "Cold Cuisine in the Stone Bay".

The beautiful scenery in the garden is very attractive to modern people living in the urban reinforced concrete forest (especially the first-time visitors to the botanical garden); Scenery such as Xiao Zhong in Heaven, Qin Dong in High School, Lock Clouds in Shiwan, Zhong Yan Yu Chan, Taiping Shixiao and Shiwan Cold Cuisine are also valuable.

Shortcomings of Botanical Gardens (Compared with 5A Scenic Area Standards)

The plant landscape in the park is still not attractive to repeat customers: although there are many plants and rare species in the park, tourists get tired of it after several visits. When I first came to the Botanical Garden, I might find the natural scenery here beautiful (especially for people from places with serious pollution and insufficient greening), but after several visits, I found it boring.

In the eyes of ordinary people who lack professional knowledge of plants and gardens, the plants here all look similar. Even rare and protected plants can't be appreciated by ordinary people without professional explanation.

Insufficient public toilets: I walked for more than two hours during the inspection, but I didn't see many public toilets along the way. There were only a few public toilets, and there was no need to decorate them. According to the standard of 5A-level scenic spots, the total amount of toilets must reach more than 5‰ of the average daily tourist reception in peak season. The interior of the toilet is very cultural, and the toilet is decorated according to the characteristics of the scenic spot.

Lack of electronic explanation service: there is no portable voice guide. And this is a must for 5A-level scenic spots.

Compared with the standard of 5A scenic spot, I think the biggest deficiency of Xiamen Garden and Botanical Garden is its lack of tourist attraction.

Appropriate activities in the park

Mountain climbing, running and other outdoor leisure sports tours can be held in the park.
