Tourism in six central provinces

Wuhan, Changsha, Taiyuan, Nanchang, Hefei, Zhengzhou and Luoyang have been identified as node cities for tourism development in the six central provinces.

Ge Quansheng, a researcher at China Academy of Sciences, said that the central region has the characteristics of "south" and "north", and has formed tourism brands with world influence such as Three Gorges, Huangshan and Zhangjiajie.

In order to promote the faster development of tourism in the central region, the National Tourism Administration initiated the implementation of the Tourism Development Plan for the Central Region. Ge Quansheng introduced that the planning period is from 2008 to 2020, and the world-class tourism products such as "mountains, rivers, townships and capitals" will be built with the focus on protecting natural and historical and cultural heritage.

When talking about the planning ideas of the regional layout of tourism in six provinces, Ge Quansheng said that the research group is going to design four to six "mountains and rivers" tourism belts, six to 10 tourism metropolis, eight trans-regional tourism circles and 12 to 20 international tourism products.

Among them, five of the four to six "mountains and rivers" tourist belts have been identified, namely:
