What does the Tourism Bureau do?

The main functions are as follows:

(a) to study and formulate the principles, policies and plans for the development of tourism, study and solve major problems in the operation of tourism economy, organize the formulation of tourism laws, regulations and standards and supervise their implementation.

(two) to coordinate the implementation of various tourism-related policies and measures, especially holiday tourism, tourism safety, tourism emergency rescue and tourism insurance, to ensure the normal operation of tourism activities.

(three) to study and formulate the development strategy of the international tourism market, organize the external publicity and promotion activities of the overall image of the national tourism, and organize and guide the development of important tourism products.

(four) to cultivate and improve the domestic tourism market, study and formulate strategic measures to develop domestic tourism and guide the implementation, supervise and inspect the order and service quality of the tourism market, accept complaints from tourists and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of tourists.

(five) to organize the general survey of tourism resources, guide the planning, development and construction of key tourist areas, and organize tourism statistics.

(six) to study and formulate foreign-related tourism policies, be responsible for foreign exchange and cooperation in tourism, sign international tourism agreements on behalf of the state, formulate measures for outbound tourism and border tourism and supervise their implementation.

The National Tourism Administration of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as "the National Tourism Administration") is a directly affiliated institution in charge of tourism in the State Council.

There are seven departments in the National Tourism Administration, namely: Office (Comprehensive Coordination Department), Policy and Regulation Department, Tourism Promotion and International Liaison Department, Planning, Development and Finance Department, Quality Standardization and Management Department, Personnel and Labor Education Department, and Veteran Cadres' Office.
