What is the difference between kayaking and rowing in kayaking?

The difference between a kayak and a rowing boat:

A "kayak" means that the athlete "sits in the boat and paddles left and right alternately with a paddle with blades at both ends." ; and "rowing" means that the athlete "knelt on one knee in the boat and paddled on the side of the boat with a single-blade oar."

The international kayak competition has three categories: single, double and four-person kayaks, which are coded by the first letters of the Eskimo word "KAYAKS" plus the Arabic numerals of the number of people on the boat. Represented by "K1", "K2" and "K4" respectively. There are two types of rowing events in the Olympic Games: single and double. They are coded with the initials of the English name "CANOES" plus the Arabic numerals of the number of people on the boat, and are represented by "C1" and "C2" respectively.
