A near miss occurred in Miaoxiatun, Guanghua Village, Wulu Town, Zhuanghe City, Dalian yesterday: A 20-month-old girl was lost in a nearby building with an altitude of 200 meters. I survived alone in the meter-high mountain for nearly a day and a night. Fortunately, the incident attracted the attention of the whole city of Zhuanghe, and the girl was successfully recovered through a joint search by a search and rescue team composed of more than 600 Zhuanghe police and civilians.

A girl who was once lost.

Photo from Dalian Evening News Starting at 16:00 on May 6, a message spread throughout the WeChat Moments of Zhuanghe citizens, "Under the temple in Guanghua Village, Wulu Town, a 3-year-old (fictitious) girl, today (May 6) In the morning, my grandma and I were doing laundry by the river near our home. Later, the child went home on his own and was lost. His family searched everywhere but couldn’t find him..." At 16:30, policeman Zou from the Wulu Police Station of the Zhuanghe City Public Security Bureau was on duty. Tianming saw the news in WeChat Moments. He immediately sent the police to the scene of the incident to verify the situation and reported it to the Zhuanghe City Public Security Bureau. Huang Quan, deputy mayor and public security director of Zhuanghe City, attached great importance to the matter and immediately organized criminal police, special police, police dog squadron and Wulu Police Station to carry out search and rescue.

The police learned that the missing girl’s name was Xiaoyu (pseudonym). She was born in September 2015, and her real age is only 20 months. At about 9:30 a.m. that day, Xiaoyu’s grandma took her and her eight-year-old sister Xiaoyan (pseudonym) to wash clothes in the ditch next to her house. While grandma was washing clothes, Xiaoyan took Xiaoyu home to drink water. When we arrived at the front door of our home, my elder sister put my younger sister in front of her own front door because of her playful nature, and then went to play with other children. At about 10 o'clock, when Xiaoyan returned to the front door of her house, she discovered that her sister Xiaoyu was missing, so she hurried to the river to tell her grandma.

At first, the family thought that Xiao Yu had not gone too far in the village, but after mobilizing family members to search everywhere to no avail, they called 110 around 16:30 that day. At the same time, enthusiastic neighbors helped Xiaoyu’s family compile a missing person message and posted it on Weibo and WeChat. In just a few hours, the information flooded the Weibo and WeChat Moments of Zhuanghe citizens.

Li Yusheng, a cadre of the Guanghua Village Committee who participated in the search and rescue operation, told reporters that the search and rescue process started at noon on the 6th, starting from rivers, wells, ravines that are prone to accidents, and even the dry toilets in the village. I searched everywhere for fear that the child would fall into these dangerous places. After searching these places, we then searched up the mountain behind the village, until we found Tianhei. The temperature in the mountains at night can drop to about 8 degrees Celsius, which is definitely a life and death test for a 20-month-old child without any protection. The search and rescue team did not dare to stop for a moment and searched around the mountain all day and night.

Hard work pays off. Around 8 o'clock yesterday morning, search and rescue personnel first found a toddler's shoes on the mountainside of Koryo City Mountain. Xiaoyu's parents confirmed that the shoes were Xiaoyu's! Around 8:30, the searchers finally found the lost Xiaoyu lying there among a pile of bushes on the northern slope of Goryeo Mountain.

Xiao Yu had no external injuries when she was found. “This child is really lucky. The Seongsan Mountain in Korea is 200 meters above sea level. Her home is at the foot of the mountain in the south, but the place where she was found is on the north slope, the same as her home.” The straight-line distance was at least two kilometers. She had no food or water for 22 hours, and she spent the whole night in the mountains. This is something that even an adult would find difficult to do. It is simply a miracle! ”

Yesterday morning, when the reporter contacted Xiaoyu’s father, Mr. Lu, he was accompanying his daughter for a physical examination at Zhuanghe Central Hospital. After a preliminary examination by the doctor, Xiaoyu’s health was no longer serious.
