Travel Notes on Shaoshan and Huaminglou

Foreword:

At around 8 a.m. on May 28, we started driving to the former residences of two great men, Mao Zedong and Liu Shaoqi, and left at 5 p.m. I would like to express my admiration for these two great men, Mao Zedong and Liu Shaoqi!

The first thing we arrived at was Huaming Tower, the former residence of Liu Shaoqi. Due to limited time, we were only able to visit Tanzichong, the former residence of Liu Shaoqi. The bronze statue of Liu Shaoqi is 7.1m high, and "July 1" means the day when the Communist Party of China was founded. Room 11.5 of Liu Shaoqi's former residence. Each room has been kept as it was back then. Although it is just a simple house, people can't help but think of Liu Yuxi's "The mountain is not high, but the immortals are famous".

After leaving Huaming Tower reluctantly, we went to Shaoshan, the former residence of Chairman Mao, the founding leader of China. The word "Shao" comes from the "Shao music" played during the reign of Emperor Shun. It is said that during the ancient times when Emperor Shun visited the south, he played Shao music here, hence the name. As the locals do, we first worship Chairman Mao and then eat Mao’s dinner. At the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, I listened to the tour guide explain the great and strange events in Chairman Mao's life, such as "A mole in middle age, the sun and the moon shine together"... Especially, I felt with my own hands the word "福" (福) inscribed by Chairman Mao ( The word "福" means Chairman Mao's wish that the people would have enough food and clothing), and admiration arose spontaneously. Finally, in front of Chairman Mao's statue, we put our hands together and silently recited "Chairman Mao will always live in our hearts", worshiped seriously, and prayed for our family and friends. After paying homage to the Chairman, it was time to get excited. We enjoyed Chinese food at a restaurant called "Mao Jianzi" and tasted Chairman Mao's favorite "Mao's Braised Pork". The braised pork is slightly sweet, soft and juicy. (Oil), a combination of lean and fat. Because it was too sweet and greasy, I only ate some of it, which was considered as a memory of Chairman Mao.

After we were full, we arrived at Shaoshan Chong again. The first stop was Chairman Mao’s former residence. Because the queue was too long, we could only visit around Chairman Mao’s former residence within a limited time. Did not enter. The lotus pond in front of Chairman Mao's former residence is peaceful. Despite the noise of tourists, they are still growing there silently, waiting for the Chairman silently. There are also many people taking photos there.

The second stop is the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall. When you enter the museum, you will see a large portrait of Chairman Mao, who looks at China's development with a smile. The memorial hall is composed of many individual exhibition areas. The plaque on the door of each exhibition area reads "China has a Mao Zedong". It displays Chairman Mao's life and clothing, Chairman Mao's family deeds, historical scene simulations and documentaries of great significance. Play. During the visit, I actually saw a young American, which made me secretly happy. It turns out that Chairman Mao’s influence is not only in China, but also in the West.

Finally, we came back along the road and worshiped the bronze statue of Chairman Mao. The total height of the bronze statue is 10.1m. "October 1" symbolizes the founding of New China and also shows the greatness of Chairman Mao. It is said that an Olympic athlete once visited Shaoshan, but due to time issues, he left without coming to worship in front of the bronze statue of Chairman Mao. He did not win any major awards that year. Later, he came to Shaoshan specially. He was the first to come to the bronze statue of Chairman Mao and worshiped devoutly. Later, he won the championship. Maybe people don’t take such strange things seriously, but if you come to Shaoshan, you still have to pay sincere respect to the bronze statue of the Chairman. Although Chairman Mao made mistakes in his later years, his contribution and role to China cannot be erased by his mistakes. Therefore, we should view Chairman Mao with a correct attitude.

This trip to Shaoshan and Huaminglou was not very smooth. The sun was shining strongly; I vomited twice on the way there; due to time issues, the schedule was very tight...but My conclusion is still - this trip is worth it! Visiting the former residences of great men, listening to their deeds, eating local braised pork, and drinking local water, one's soul seems to have been washed by the thoughts of great men. From it, I also gained passion and learned to cherish and struggle.
