Hukou Waterfall is the second largest waterfall in China, located at the junction of Jixian County (Linfen City) in Shanxi Province and Yichuan County (Yan 'an City) in Shaanxi Province. The 250-meter-wide Yellow River water suddenly bundles into a 30-meter-wide canyon here, forming a 30-meter gap, just like a huge pot hanging upside down, so it is called Hukou, which is quite spectacular.

The reputation of hukou is not small: the hukou on the back of RMB in 50 yuan is familiar to people; Zhu Zema crossed the hukou, making people steep and heroic; The hukou in the movie "The Yellow River is lovelorn" makes people reluctant to give up their feelings; As for the majestic trend embodied by The Yellow River Cantata, it has infected several generations of China people since it infected the people's musician Xian Xinghai. "The wind is roaring, the horse is barking, and the Yellow River is roaring ..." This is the strongest sound of the mother river of the Chinese nation and the source of strength handed down from generation to generation by the descendants of the Chinese people.

As long as there is an opportunity, you should look at the hukou.

Say yes first

The bridge head of Hukou Bridge is 45km away from Jixian County, 48km away from Yichuan and 0/70km away from Linfen/Kloc, Shanxi Province.

The transportation to the hukou is not very convenient. At present, only six long-distance buses pass through Hukou every day (three in both directions). Among them, long-distance buses outside Linfen, Shanxi and Yan 'an, Shaanxi depart from Linfen and Yan 'an around 6: 00 in the morning and arrive at Hukou Bridge (also known as Qilangwo Bridge) around noon 12: 30; There are two flights every day between Jixian County in Shanxi Province and Yichuan County in Shaanxi Province. They set off from the two places at 8: 40 am and 2: 00 pm respectively, and it takes about an hour and a half to reach the bridge at Hukou. The bridge is 3 kilometers away from the waterfall.

If you miss the bus from Linfen to Yan 'an, you can take the bus from Linfen to Jixian first. It runs every 20 to 30 minutes, and the fare is 16 yuan/person. After arriving in Jixian County, if the time happens, you can take a long-distance bus to Yichuan to Qiaotou, each in 8 yuan; You can also take a private van or Santana. Generally four people, each round trip to 30 yuan. You can drive directly to the waterfall, charter a car from 80 yuan to 120 yuan, depending on your bargaining power.

If you get off at the bridge by bus, there are various buses waiting to take you to the waterfall, which costs two yuan per person. If there are more than two of you, a driver will come forward and tell you to buy a ticket (a 25 yuan), and the round-trip fare can be waived. We stayed in a private hotel at the bridgehead. On the recommendation of the owner, we took this bus to the waterfall. I thought they could make the difference at a discount, but later I found out that these people are very familiar with the ticket inspectors in the scenic spot. They can buy one or two fewer tickets every time they bring guests. 25. 50 yuan falls into their pockets. And because it is a round-trip chartered car, our driver has been trying to urge us to hurry back after arriving at the waterfall. Because we stayed a little longer, he was unhappy when he came back, and he wanted to overcharge when he got off the bus 10 yuan. Of course, we flatly refused. It seems that once people make money, it is difficult to remain simple. Therefore, tourists are advised to spend a few more dollars by bus rather than by this kind of bus.

Talking about travel again

The season with the largest amount of water in waterfalls is spring, followed by autumn. In summer, due to the lack of precipitation and water in the upper reaches, the unique scene of ice flying bridge is formed in winter. The waterfalls on both sides of Hukou are very spectacular. If you only look at it from above, you should see it more clearly from Shaanxi. In June, there are many more tourists in Shaanxi than in Shanxi. According to local people, this is the reason for the better development of tourism in Shaanxi. But when the amount of water is not very large, the stone steps of a hole on the Shanxi side can go down to the bottom of the waterfall, and it feels very good to contact the waterfall completely at zero distance. However, the ticket is 10 yuan alone, and you have to be prepared to get soaked.

Look at Hukou Waterfall. If you just want to visit here, more than half an hour is enough, but if you want to seriously experience the roaring feeling of the Yellow River, then more time is not enough. If you go to Hukou the afternoon before and live in the scenic spot after seeing the waterfall, it should be the best choice to come back the next morning to see the waterfall flying (as long as you can see the rainbow in a sunny morning).

On both sides of Hukou, there are old people on the Loess Plateau. They are wearing white towels and holding donkeys, inviting tourists to take pictures. There are few tourists here in Shanxi. As long as you pay two yuan, you can ride a donkey or not, and the number of photos is unlimited. I took a random picture and used half a roll, but most of them were taken for the old man alone. I want to take some photos of old people with local characteristics. It is really not easy to find such a typical one in other places.

There used to be a unique scene at the mouth of the lake-"sailing on dry land" The wooden boat coming from the upstream had to go ashore when it encountered a waterfall, and it was dragged across the river beach by manpower and then re-launched. It is said that you can see it ten years ago, but now you can only see words.

On the shore of the lake, there is a monument to Ke Shouliang flying over the mouth of the lake by car, and a short starting lane built in that year was also preserved far away from the river.

In recent years, a Longwang Temple has been built in Waterfall Shanxi, which is not enough in scale or sculpture art, but it does not accept tickets. We came just in time to catch the pictures of Linfen scenery photography contest on display in the temple. There are photos of Hukou in all seasons, which makes up for the regret of not coming to Hukou in other seasons to some extent.

There are also scenic spots near Hukou, such as the Great Wall in Qing Dynasty, Conanpo and Mengmen. Conanpo, located 10 kilometers upstream of Hukou, was the headquarters of Yan Xishan in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's time, but there seems to be no other way to get there except by car or on foot. Mengmen is a stone island in the middle reaches of the Yellow River, one kilometer downstream of Qilangwo Bridge. There is a railway bridge connecting Shaanxi, and the ticket is 10 yuan. It is said that there was no charge not long ago. A statue of Dayu stands on the island and a small pavilion is being built. There are few visitors. If you have time, sitting at Shidaotou and watching the dark yellow Yellow River running down from both sides, you will feel open-minded and full of emotions.

Finally, talk about living and eating.

At present, most self-help tourists who go from Shanxi to hukou choose to live in Jixian County. Jixian county is known as the "hometown of cigarettes and fruits", and apricot was listed at the end of June. There are several kinds, only forty or fifty cents a catty. Apples in Jixian county are more famous. Eating noodles in Jixian County, the large, medium and small bowls are 4 yuan, 3 yuan and 2 yuan respectively. A bowl of middle bowl is basically enough for the young man, and other special snacks have not been found. In Jixian County, the standard rooms of hotels are all bargained, and every room from 60 yuan to 80 yuan is almost the same.

Near Hukou Waterfall, most hotels in Shaanxi are in the scenic area, with star-rated hotels and good conditions. Hotels in Shanxi are all concentrated at the bridge head, outside the gate of the scenic spot, nearly 3 kilometers away from the waterfall. There are three better hotels: Golden Waterfall Villa, Hukou Hotel and Wugu Hotel. I asked the gourmet hotel, the lowest standard room is 100 yuan, and the ordinary room with public toilet has a bed in 20 yuan. You can also stay at the Nongjiale Hotel, per bed 10 yuan. The conditions are not good. When summer came, even if it was cool outside, it was stuffy indoors, and there was no water, not to mention going out to cross the road when taking a shower and going to the toilet.

My biggest regret in Hukou is that after I arrived, I first found a place outside the scenic spot in order to reduce the burden of my backpack. When I arrived at the waterfall, I found that although there was no hotel here in Shanxi, there was a farmhouse cave on the nearby hillside where I could live, per capita 10 yuan. Although the conditions are simple, after all, it is on the edge of the waterfall, and the sound of the Yellow River can be faintly heard at night, and the waterfall can be seen flying in the early morning of the next day. Besides, living in a cave can really appreciate the local customs. In fact, it rained all the time that night, and the next day I found that the river had risen a lot, so I guess the waterfall must be spectacular again.

There is a row of farmhouse restaurants on the Shanxi side of Daqiaotou. According to local people, there are 23 restaurants here. Except for a few golden weeks, business is mostly light. When eating in these restaurants, it should be noted that the price marked on the menu is definitely not the actual price. For example, a dish of cold wild vegetables, priced in 25 yuan, is cut once in 8 yuan. If you don't bargain, you will definitely be cheated. In fact, due to fierce competition, if you hesitate a little before taking a seat, the store will take the initiative to reduce the price. But it's more expensive than other places in Shanxi. First, vegetables are not grown locally, and they have to be shipped from the county seat more than 40 kilometers away. Second, water and electricity are expensive here. It is said that once electricity was 0.86 yuan, and a ton of water was 4.50 yuan. The local people no longer eat "a bucket of water and half a bucket of sand" of the Yellow River water, and bring spring water from Houshan.

Yellow River red carp is very famous, but according to local people, it is getting harder and harder to catch now, and 25 yuan can't eat a catty. As for other large and small fish sold in restaurants, most of them are fish raised in reservoirs.
