Which province is Xishuangbanna?

Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, alias Mengbalanasi, is one of the eight autonomous prefectures in Yunnan Province. Jinghong, the capital, is located in the tropical northern margin south of the Tropic of Cancer, bordering Pu 'er in the northeast and northwest, Laos in the southeast and Myanmar in the southwest.

Xishuangbanna was called Monroe in ancient times, with a Dai calendar of 522 years (1 160). Paiyazhen, the leader of the Dai nationality, unified Monroe and belonged to Dali, a local political power in the Southern Song Dynasty. In 932 (1570) of the Dai calendar, Xuanwei's envoy called the area under his jurisdiction to be 12 Banna, namely Xishuangbanna (meaning 12 Banna), which is the origin of the name of Xishuangbanna.
