Songshan Forest Tourist Area is a part of Songshan Nature Reserve, which is located in the Dujun Mountain in the deep Yanshan Mountains in the northwest of Yanqing County, Beijing, more than 90 kilometers away from the urban area. The climate of the tourist area is a typical mountain climate, which is pleasant due to the influence of altitude and small topography. It is one of the low-temperature areas in Beijing, with an average annual temperature of about 7℃, which is 4℃ lower than that in the urban area and 2.9℃ lower than that in Chengde. 1986 is listed as a "national nature reserve" by the State Council because of its special geographical location, elegant natural environment and abundant animal and plant resources.

The reserve covers a total area of 4,660 hectares, including core area 1.463 hectares, experimental area 1.802.5 hectares and tourist area 1.394.2 hectares. There are abundant wildlife resources and dense vegetation in this area, including more than 80 species of vertebrates/kloc-0, more than 700 species of vascular plants, and more than 50 hectares of well-preserved natural Chinese pine forest. Nowadays, in spring and autumn, hundreds of flowers bloom and birds contend, showing the vitality of nature.

Songshan tourist area is dominated by natural landscape, rich in scenic resources and unique. Haituo Mountain in the area is 2 199.6 meters above sea level, which is the second highest peak in Beijing. There are more than 30 scenic spots in the area, such as natural Pinus tabulaeformis forest, Baipuquan, Baxian Cave, Songyuetan, lion drinking water, golden toad looking at the moon, Feilongbi and so on, each with its own characteristics. Mountain, water, stone, forest and ancient times: majestic, secluded, dangerous, strange and beautiful, giving tourists picturesque and poetic enjoyment. Songshan hot spring is famous in ancient and modern times and is an ideal place for bathing and treating diseases. As early as 1500 years ago, in the Northern Wei Dynasty, it was "chiseling stones" for "bathing ladies". The Qing people praised Songshan as "a good place for fitness" and "a holy place for fitness". Songshan Hot Spring has a water temperature of 45℃ and a sunrise of 2000 cubic meters. Spring water contains 27 kinds of elements such as potassium, magnesium, sulfur and iron, among which the fluorine ion content is as high as 12 ml/L, which has obvious curative effect on dermatosis, arthritis, rheumatoid disease and local neuralgia. Until now, it still attracts many people from all directions to take a bath and treat patients.

Songshan Nature Reserve is not only an ideal place for scientific research and teaching practice, but also a scenic spot for traveling, summer vacation, poetry and painting, and tasting nature.
