Regional position
Kyoto basin is located in 34? 58'36. 1"N 135? 43'59.3"E, located in central Japan, near Osaka, Nara and Kobe, has obvious location advantages. Most of the urban areas of Kyoto are located in the Kyoto basin. Kyoto is surrounded by mountains on three sides except the south, with a total area of 827.90 square kilometers.
topography
The eastern part of Kyoto basin is also the earliest developed area in Kyoto because of its high terrain, relative dryness and livability. Shanke area in the southeast of Kyoto and Huzhu area in Fujian are located in Shanke basin, and are separated from Kyoto basin by mountains such as Qingshui Mountain and Daoling Mountain.
Most of the northern part of Kyoto is mountainous, among which Daming Mountain, Xishan Mountain and Lanshan Mountain are the most famous. The highest point in Kyoto is Mount Atago, which is 924 meters above sea level. The Kyoto basin is surrounded by mountains on three sides, namely Dongshan, Beishan and Xishan. The elevation of each mountain is below 1000m, and the whole basin is high in the northeast and low in the southwest.
The main rivers in Kyoto are Guichuan and Yachuan. Yachuan is located in the east of Kyoto, and Guichuan also flows through Lanshan. The two rivers meet at the junction of the southern district and Fujian district and flow into the Yunnan-Sichuan water system. Like other rivers in Japan, most rivers in Kyoto are short and swift, and are prone to floods.
In peacetime, Kyoto suffered many floods. Even in modern times, whenever a typhoon crosses the border and causes a concentrated rainstorm, the river level in Beijing often rises sharply in a short time, causing floods.
Climatic characteristics
According to Cobain's climate classification, Kyoto belongs to subtropical humid climate (in Japan, it is classified as Seto inland climate and inland climate), which is characterized by significant changes in temperature and rainfall in four seasons.
In addition, Kyoto is located in a basin, which makes this feature more obvious. Kyoto is hot and humid in summer, but it is relatively cold in winter and occasionally snows. Spring in Kyoto begins in mid-March, cherry blossoms are in full bloom, and autumn is also the period with the most tourists in Kyoto.
From mid-June to the end of July, Kyoto entered a hot and humid rainy season. Then I entered the second half of the hot and sunny summer. Like most of Japan's Pacific coast and central region, Kyoto is vulnerable to typhoons in September and 10. After that, Kyoto entered a short autumn.
Although compared with the coastal areas of the Sea of Japan, the snowfall in Kyoto is relatively small. However, Kyoto, located inland, is still a relatively cold area in Feng Jingen in winter.
