Fenghuang Mountain is located more than 30 kilometers north of Chaozhou City. It is known as the "Roof of Chaoshan" and is the highest peak in eastern Guangdong. If the weather is fine and the air is clear, you can open the window in the urban area and see the main peak Phoenix Bird Bun in the sky from a distance. The top of the mountain is surrounded by auspicious clouds, "green like a phoenix crown, and can sing in the wind."

Phoenix, the king of birds in ancient myths and legends, is a divine object that represents auspiciousness. In the hearts of many Chaozhou people, Fenghuang Mountain is not only the highest peak in the Chaoshan region, but also a sacred mountain. It is the birthplace of 700,000 She people, and many unknown secrets are hidden there.

There is a newly built uphill road in the scenic area from Fenghuang Town to Fenghuang Mountain. It winds all the way up with steep slopes and sharp turns. However, for safety reasons, this road has checkpoints and is not open to the public. If you want to drive up the mountain, the navigation will prompt you to take the narrow and steep old road. A friend of mine drove on a small road according to the navigation guide, but called me in the middle of the night and said that he was stuck in the middle of the mountain and could not advance or retreat. At the Naixing Tourism Distribution Center in Fenghuang Town, there is a dedicated sightseeing bus for the scenic spot, which includes tickets for the scenic spot for 60 yuan per person and includes transportation up and down the mountain, which is not expensive.

If you want to shoot the sunrise on Fenghuang Mountain, you have to either leave Fenghuang Town in the middle of the night to climb to the top, or stay on the mountain. This location is across the river from Fengniaoji, the main peak of Fenghuang Mountain, and it is only a four or five-minute drive from Fenghuang Tianchi, so I booked a room in advance. I got up at 5:30 in the morning and drove to the mountain behind the hotel. The morning light was already faintly visible. I quickly set up my camera and waited for the sunrise.

The Tianchi at the top of Wudao Mountain is the most charming place in Phoenix Mountain. In summer and autumn, it is an excellent place for summer camping. Wudao Mountain is the second highest peak of Fenghuang Mountain, with an altitude of 1,391 meters. Standing on the platform, the majestic and majestic main peak Phoenix Bird Bun is right in front of you, as if you can reach it at your fingertips.

"I would like to be a guest of the Phoenix Tea Mountain, not a fairy in the apricot blossom." To reach Phoenix Tianchi, you need to climb more than 800 steps on foot. Along the way are mountains of ancient tea trees. Wudang Village in Fenghuang Mountain is the origin of Oolong tea Fenghuang Dancong. There are still more than 3,000 400-year-old ancient tea trees, which is a unique landscape.

After a lot of effort, I finally saw the legendary Phoenix Tianchi. I raised my drone and unexpectedly discovered that there was more than one Tianchi on the top of the mountain.

"If the mountains are not high, immortals will be famous; if the water is not deep, dragons will be spiritual." More than 1,000 years ago, Liu Yuxi, the supervisory censor, wrote this when he was demoted to Hezhou, Anhui as a general judge. This paragraph also applies to Phoenix Tianchi.

Phoenix Tianchi was known as "Bath Fairy Pond" in ancient times. It is not large in area, but spring water gushes out all year round. The water in the pool is extremely clear, and the blue sky and white clouds are reflected in it, making it particularly beautiful.

What is amazing is that the Phoenix Mountain Tianchi is located on the top of a high mountain. It has no fixed water source, but it has sufficient water all year round and has never dried up, which is really rare.

Some people say that Phoenix Tianchi is a natural lake formed by an ancient volcanic crater. Another theory is that it was formed by depressions or fractures in the earth's crust. But one thing that is certain is that Phoenix Mountain was formed by the compression and twisting of the Pacific Plate and the Eurasian continent. The mountain is composed of granite and rhyolite. This geological structure is not easy to store surface water. So, where does the water in Tianchi come from?

The local old man said that the water from Tianchi Lake comes up from the sky because Tianchi Lake gathers the aura of the entire Phoenix Mountain. Phoenix Tianchi is the place where the Queen Mother of the West and the Nine Heavenly Fairies bathe. As long as the water in the South China Sea does not dry up, the Tianchi will never flow.

There is something even more sinister. It is said that there is an ancient divine fish with four legs living in Tianchi, but no one has ever caught it, which casts a mysterious veil over it.

Tianchi is surrounded by nearly a thousand acres of natural grassland. Although it is early winter, it is still full of green.
