Do Russians need invitations to apply for tourist visas to come to China?

Russian tourist visa (L certificate: visitors to China) can be obtained without an invitation letter.

1. Materials required to apply for L-shaped visa:

(1) Passport: original passport with blank visa page, passport photo page with validity of more than 6 months 1 copy.

(2) Visa application form and photos: People's Republic of China (PRC) visa application form 1 copy and recent, front, color (light background), bareheaded, passport photo 1 copy pasted on the application form.

(3) Proof of legal stay or residence in Russia (for non-Russian applicants), such as valid visa, residence certificate or residence registration, original and photocopy of student ID card or work permit.

(4) Original China passport or original Chinese visa (applicable to those who once had China nationality and later joined foreign nationality): If applying for a Chinese visa for the first time, the original China passport and a copy of passport photo page must be provided.

If you have obtained a Chinese visa and apply for a visa with a new foreign passport, you must provide the photo page of the original foreign passport and a copy of the obtained Chinese visa (if the name recorded in the new passport is inconsistent with the original passport, you must also provide relevant official documents to change your name).

2. Other supporting application materials (L visa)

Travel information such as round-trip air tickets, hotel orders, or invitations issued by domestic units or individuals. The invitation letter shall include the following contents:

(1) Personal information of the invitee: name, gender, date of birth, etc.

(2) The itinerary information of the invitee: arrival and departure date, tourist location, etc. ;

(3) Information of inviting unit or inviter: name, telephone number, address, unit seal, signature of legal representative or inviter, etc.

(4) Insurance policy (original or copy) during your stay in China.

3. Special tips

(1) The invitation letter can be faxed, copied or printed, but the consular officer can request the applicant to provide the original invitation letter.

(2) When necessary, the consular officer may request the applicant to provide other supporting documents or supplementary materials, or request an interview with the applicant.

(3) The consular officer shall decide whether to issue a visa according to the specific circumstances of the applicant, as well as the validity period, duration of stay and the number of entry times of the visa.
