On the evening of September 3rd, 2009 China Hunan International Tourism Festival Zhangjiajie National Culture Week was grandly opened. Vice Governor Gan Lin, Vice Minister of Propaganda Department of Provincial Party Committee Li Famei, Director of Provincial Tourism Bureau Yang Guangrong, Secretary of Municipal Party Committee Hu Bojun, Deputy Secretary of Municipal Party Committee and Mayor Zhao Xiaoming attended the opening ceremony. Qu Qingshan, member of the Standing Committee of Qinghai Provincial Party Committee and Minister of Propaganda Department of Provincial Party Committee, was invited to attend. Nearly 3000 representatives of travel agencies and tourists from the United States, Australia, Japan and other countries, as well as media reporters inside and outside the province attended.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhao Xiaoming. Hu Bojun delivered an opening speech on behalf of the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government. He said that Zhangjiajie has world-class beauty, karst peaks and caves, rich in aesthetic, ecological and scientific values, and is a treasure of the world. This land has a history of more than 2,200 years and is home to 33 ethnic minorities. Brilliant and distinctive national culture and art are being transmitted to the whole world, and it is an attractive world-class tourist attraction. Zhangjiajie has both natural beauty and humanistic beauty, and we are proud of Zhangjiajie.

On the world's largest FRP stage in Tianmen Mountain Scenic Area, the world's first large-scale landscape musical "The Fox Fairy in Tianmen-New Liu Hai Chopping firewood" was auditioned at the opening ceremony, which opened the prelude of Zhangjiajie National Culture Week of China Hunan International Tourism Festival in 2009.
