Plot synopsis·······

Libby Parsons (played by Ashley Judd) ) is a young mother living in Seattle, whose happy and happy family life is enviable. Her husband Nick (Bruce Greenwood) is a suave man and a successful businessman. Libby's five-year-old son Maddie is also very lovable.

One weekend night, as usual, the couple drove a private yacht to cruise on the quiet lake. At night, Libby woke up from her sleep, but her husband was nowhere to be seen. She was surprised to find that not only was she covered in blood, but the deck of the yacht was also covered in blood. Soon, Libby became the number one suspect in Nick's murder. The police suspected that she murdered her husband because she was greedy for Nick's two million insurance premiums. In the end, the innocent Libby was sentenced to ten years in prison.

As she was about to serve her sentence, Libby entrusted her son Maddie to her most trusted friend Angie. However, not long after Libby was imprisoned, Angie and Maddie mysteriously disappeared. With the help of inmates Margaret and Evelyn, Libby began to use the phone to find the whereabouts of her friend and son, and persisted in proving her innocence to the police. And she increasingly suspects that her husband Nick may still be alive in the world, but she doesn't understand the purpose for which her husband, who loves her deeply, forces herself to be imprisoned. Margaret was once an excellent lawyer but was later sentenced to prison for manslaughter of her husband. Margaret reminds Libby that if Nick is not dead, she can fight back without any hindrance, because a person cannot be prosecuted twice for the same crime.

Six years later, Libby was paroled, and the frustrated but kind-hearted old police officer Tavis Lyman (Tommy Lee Jones) became Libby's guardian. By chance, Libby discovered that Nick had changed his identity and was living with Angie and Maddie in a corner of San Francisco. Libby begins to do whatever it takes to escape from police surveillance. Police officer Lyman naturally assumed the mission of hunting down Libby, and he vaguely felt in his heart that Libby was innocent. At the same time, the vicious Nick was waiting for an opportunity to take Libby's life. With Lyman's secret help, Libby finally gave Nick the retribution he deserved.

Libby, who has restored her clean reputation, is finally reunited with her son...
