Why are so many people in China willing to travel abroad instead of now?

Hello, I have worked in the tourism industry for more than 10 years and have a deep understanding of this.

I think there are many reasons. Objectively speaking, going to other countries to experience exotic customs is not expensive now, ordinary people can afford it, and visas are more convenient than in the past, etc. These are some rules for the development of the tourism market. But from an industry perspective, there have been too many problems in the domestic tourism market in recent years. Let me briefly mention a few aspects and let us discuss them together. Please leave a comment:

1. Ticket economy: Tickets in China are far ahead of other countries in the world. In China, most scenic spots use tickets as their main source of income, and some are even their only source. This has resulted in extremely high ticket prices, excessive pursuit of profits, and a single income, which makes tourists stay away from tickets. For example, if you go to Harbin Ice and Snow World, a ticket of more than 300 yuan will cost a family of three nearly 1,000 yuan. For example, a few friends go to Huangshan, Lushan, Jiuzhaigou, Wuxi Film and Television City, etc. Moreover, the ticket prices are more than 200 to 300 yuan, which makes tourists intolerable. However, many foreign places do not charge admission fees. Even in economically developed Japan, the peak season ticket for the famous Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto is only 400 yen, which is only more than 20 yuan, and the ticket for the Louvre is only 14 euros, and the price increases almost every year.

West Lake is the most successful tourism economy. Hangzhou successfully built the West Lake Resort. Fortunately, many places are now building comprehensive tourist resorts, such as the Slender West Lake Resort in Yangzhou. Several attractions do not require tickets, but services have been strengthened in many aspects, such as food, hotels, sports, and entertainment.

Of course, there are still some backward areas, which I think local leaders should pay attention to. For example, in some remote places such as Heilongjiang, Qinghai, and Guangxi, as well as other small attractions with nothing, if you just put something in, you will need a 50 or 100 ticket. For example, tourists going to Riyue Mountain in Qinghai are simply incomprehensible. After two houses are built on the mountain, tickets will be charged.

2. Homogenization: We Chinese seem to have a problem, that is, I do what others do, and I want to copy when others succeed. This is very evident in China’s ancient towns. When Lijiang and Xitang succeeded, they copied their models and made ancient towns across the country look like big markets, without any freshness at all. I think ancient towns in China are so boring. Now that the National Tourism Administration is promoting characteristic towns, I think we still need to see how the local areas develop. What I think is the most regrettable thing is that there are a thousand Miao villages, and even one good Miao village is in a mess.

3. Infrastructure: Of course, there are still many in China. The infrastructure in backward and remote areas, such as the western region, is very weak. There's really no way around this. But for the vast majority of areas, it is not just a matter of infrastructure such as hotels and transportation, but services also need to be strengthened. In this regard, I think it is obvious to compare the tourism, prices, service attitude, amusement facilities, and entertainment methods of Sanya and Thailand. Why does everyone like to go to Thailand and still want to go? This is a question that needs to be considered by the authorities.

4. Number of tourists: In fact, there are also many domestic tourists. Every summer, grasslands, lakes, and coastal cities are overcrowded, and many ancient cities are overwhelmed. While pursuing economic interests, local governments should also strengthen restrictions on population mobility. They should not just make money, but should provide reasonable guidance to prevent tourist destinations from becoming a hodgepodge. For example, if you go to Hongcun in summer, you must arrive at 7 o'clock because it will be very crowded after 8 o'clock. Of course, many people don't like traveling to Thailand, Japan and South Korea now because there are too many Chinese tourists and the locals complain a lot. This is an objective reason.

5. To add, the performance project is characterized by stupidity. Here, I want to criticize a few places, Xiongxiazi Island in Heilongjiang Province. A large square was built immediately after Russia's return, which destroyed the local environment. Ningxia Wuzhong Yellow Crane Tower invested more than 6 million yuan to build a fake Yellow Crane Tower, but not many people went there. The Samaranch Museum and Fearless Museum in Tianjin each invested more than 200 million, occupying a large amount of land and not having many collections. After seeing them, I feel that Tianjin people have a lot of land. There are many more, and this blind construction should be enough.

Japan’s Kiyomizu Temple, off-season tickets are 300 yen.

Japanese Inaho Shrine No, I don’t need money at all.

A few days ago, I watched a TV news report that the tourism industry in Tibet and the United States is developing rapidly. Now someone in the city has rebuilt the B&B where I stayed for one night in Tibet. After spending 400 yuan for a night and eating a stewed chicken for 600 yuan each, the herders' smiling faces were filled with flowers. What about three meals a day? How much will it cost that day? Nowadays, domestic tourist attractions charge very high fees, especially in the catering industry, and there are endless forced shopping and so on. This has left domestic tourists without Asian stars. They say traveling abroad is cheap and there is no cheating. In this case, why not go to a foreign country? Look at foreign customs and exotic sentiments? This is not about admiring foreign things, it is the same as buying things. I will buy from anyone who has good stuff. It has nothing to do with patriotism. If the domestic tourism industry is not rectified, I'm afraid it won't last long if it relies on the support of those rich people.
