Fahuayuan 1

Hokkeji is one of the earliest Buddhist temples in Jiaodong Peninsula and the only Buddhist temple in Weihai. It was built by Zhang Baohao from Silla in 824. The hospital was named Fahua Hospital because the first batch of monks invited to chant Buddhist scripture when the hospital was built belonged to Tiantai Sect, and the chanting was Hokkekyo. The hospital was rebuilt 1988, and in May 1, 1989 was officially opened to the public. The name of the hospital was inscribed by Zhao Puchu, president of the Chinese Buddhist Association.
