Shanghai, once the most prosperous ancient town, has been rebuilt. All the shops are closed and there are no tourists.
A few ancient towns have been developed into tourist attractions, some are being rebuilt, and most of them have completely disappeared. Every city has places that the most familiar people know, and these places often carry the city's past. Luodian ancient town is such an existence for Shanghai.
Luodian Town, located in Baoshan District, Shanghai, was selected as one of the 44 historical and cultural protection zones in Shanghai. Luodian, a big town, was formed before the Ming Dynasty. At that time, it was the first of seven towns and five cities in Jiading County, and the commodities it distributed were mainly cotton and cotton cloth. There has always been a saying in the local area: Jinluodian, Yinnan Lane, Tongjiangwan and TieDachang. However, Luodian is no longer considered as "gold" because it is far away from the urban area and the transportation is not convenient enough. Although the old street has been well repaired, there are few tourists, so most shops along the street are closed.
The scope of the old street is not large, from the archway of the old street to the new bridge, only 100 meters. Most of the bridges on the Li Anqi River are newly built. Tingqian Street was the main "commercial street" before Luodian, and this street extends along the north bank of Li Anqi River. The houses on the street are typical shops in Jiangnan market town, with the front door as the shop and the back building by the river.
Walking along Tingqian Street, the whole old street looks quiet. There are antique shops, supply and marketing cooperatives and some small department stores, and there are only three or four noodle restaurants, some of which are still closed, which may be the reason for the scarcity of tourists.
Generally speaking, Luodian originally had an ancient town, but it didn't develop. Now I want to repair it and turn it into an old street that attracts money, but because of traffic and publicity problems, I finally have to give it up. But the buildings here are still ok, very neat and comfortable to look at, and there are some old shops with ancient rhyme on both sides. Few tourists are local citizens, but fortunately, they are not commercialized and have the street flavor they deserve.
Cold streets and old shops, no busy tourists, no similar snacks, you can just come here for a walk in an afternoon, see the bridges and flowing water, and see the people in the ancient town. If the weather is fine, you can also find a farmhouse teahouse by the river, or stare blankly, or chat.
