I want to go on a self-guided tour in Yunnan and plan 7 days. Please recommend the route and budget.

Proposed route: starting from Lijiang, Yunnan, heading southwest, passing through Dali, Tengchong, Ruili and then returning to Kunming. Cars will be the main means of transportation throughout the journey, with a journey of more than 1,500 kilometers. We chose Lijiang and Kunming as the starting and ending places of our vacation because they are both must-pass places for traveling to Yunnan. Of course, you can also go in the opposite direction, starting from Kunming and ending in Lijiang

Day 1 (D1); Lijiang: Black Dragon Pond Park, Baisha, Shuhe.

Today’s itinerary is Lijiang Heilongtan Park, then rent a bicycle and ride to Baisha Ancient Town and Shuhe Ancient Town, and return to Lijiang Ancient Town in the evening.

Get up early and rush to Heilongtan Park in the north of the ancient city to watch the sunrise. The park is very close to the ancient city. Follow the east street of the ancient city to the ancient waterwheel. Then walk north along the water for more than ten minutes to reach Heilongtan Park. The entrance fee is ¥40. The sunrise in Black Dragon Pool is very beautiful. Standing on the shore, you can see the reflection of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the pool. There are a lot of carps in the Black Dragon Tantan. If you are interested, you can buy fish food from the vendors beside the pool and feed them to make them happy. After returning to the ancient city from the park, it is recommended to go to Ruiyu snacks next to the Dashiqiao for breakfast. Their cold rice noodles, chickpea jelly and chicken feet taste good. Breakfast costs ¥6.

After breakfast, rent a bicycle and set off in the ancient city. The rental fee is ¥10. The reason why we rode to Baisha and Shuhe is that these two places are not far from the ancient city and are both located in the north of the ancient city. More importantly, the scenery along the way is pleasant, making it suitable for stopping and taking photos anytime and anywhere. After leaving the ancient city, ride north along Shangri-La Avenue. There is a sign at a large roundabout. The right side leads to Baisha River and the left side leads to Shuhe River. It is recommended to go to Baisha first.

Baisha Township is located 8km north of Dayan Town, Lijiang, and can be reached by bicycle in more than an hour. It was the political, economic and cultural center of Lijiang during the Song and Yuan Dynasties. The Mu clan's Tusi architecture and murals (White Sand Murals) from the Ming Dynasty are still preserved. Tickets are ¥15. Baisha Township is located at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. You can take good photos on the road. After visiting Baisha, return the same way and head to Shuhe. The ticket for Shuhe is ¥30. Compared with the ancient city, Shuhe has more man-made attractions, but the road signs in Naxiwen are very distinctive. The further you go, the more you can see the authentic ancient town. There is also Sifang Street in the ancient town. Food is not expensive, lunch costs ¥10.

After a day of sightseeing, you can have dinner at Shunshuilou in the ancient city. We recommend the cold liver and grilled fish with black bean sauce. The per capita cost is ¥30. You can also go to Caodun Tilapia Restaurant on Xincheng Qixing Street to eat tilapia hotpot. Live fish only costs ¥7/jin, and dinner is ¥25 per person.

You can wander around the ancient city at night and experience the bustle of Sifang Street and the tranquility of the old houses. Stay in an inn in the ancient city for the night, the cost is ¥30.

The next day (D2); Lijiang-Dali Ancient Town. Shopping for batik in Zhoucheng, Xizhou Yan Family Courtyard, Three Pagodas Reflection Park, Foreigner Street.

After getting up early, have breakfast at Ruiyu Snacks, which costs ¥6. Leave the ancient city and go to Lijiang Long-distance Bus Station. Buy a ticket to Xiaguan, the fare is ¥43. Note that Xiaguan is the capital of Dali Prefecture, so you have to leave half an hour in advance to go to Dali Ancient City. It is recommended that instead of going directly to Dali, you can visit Zhoucheng and Xizhou along the way. They are the places with the strongest local ethnic characteristics among the Bai villages in Dali. Zhoucheng is located 23 kilometers north of Dali Ancient City. In Zhoucheng, you can also see a wealth of ethnic tie-dye products, and the prices are lower than in the ancient city. Xizhou is located 18 kilometers north of the ancient city of Dali. The Bai folk houses in Xizhou are very unique. The most famous one is probably the Yan Family Courtyard. You can take an electric tricycle from the highway entrance and the price is ¥2 per person. The Yan Family Courtyard is the former residence of Yan Zizhen, a famous businessman of the "Yongchangxiang" business in the Republic of China. It was also the location of the commune compound when "Five Golden Flowers" was filmed. Tickets for the Yan Family Courtyard are RMB 10. In the courtyard, you can taste Bai's three-course tea and watch performances. You can have lunch in Xizhou or go to the ancient city. Cost¥15.

After arriving in Dali Ancient City, there are many inns in Dali. It is recommended to stay in Qingxin Courtyard or Fuxin Courtyard in Fukangli in the north of the city, which is very cost-effective. The accommodation fee is RMB 25. You can wander around the ancient city in the afternoon. The ancient city of Dali is not big, with towers in the southeast and northwest directions. The view from the top of the south gate tower is the best and offers the best bird's-eye view of the ancient city. Tickets are RMB 2. Near dusk, you can go to the Three Pagodas Reflection Park to see the reflection of the Chongsheng Three Pagodas in the setting sun. I don’t recommend going to Three Pagodas Park, the tickets are too expensive and not worth it. You can go to the North Gate and take a horse-drawn carriage to the Three Pagodas Reflection Park. The round-trip fare is approximately RMB 4 per person. Tickets for Three Towers Reflection Park are RMB 4.

For dinner, we recommend going to Yiheng Hotel on Renmin Road, which is a time-honored restaurant. Special dishes include fish in casserole, fried snail meat in sauce, papaya chicken, etc. Dinner costs ¥20. After nightfall, you can wander around the Foreigner Street in the ancient city, where there are many bars. In the noisy foreigner street, you can actually find a book bar: Lazy Book Bar. The environment is very good, recommended. There are many snacks in Dali. Because it is rich in green plums, there are many green plum products. In Dali, the most common snack is one of the Eighteen Oddities of Yunnan: milk fans sold in fans made from milk. It is recommended to eat at the milk fan shop opposite the post and telecommunications office. The price is not expensive at ¥2 each. However, the smell of milk is a bit strong, and some people may not be used to it.

By the way, Dali’s yogurt is also good, you can try it.

The third day (D3); Dali: Erhai Lake, Cangshan Mountain, Dali - Xiaguan.

The most famous scenic spot in Dali is Cangshan and Erhai Lake. Today we went to Erhai Lake and after Cangshan Mountain, we headed to Xiaguan on the way. Because the shuttle bus to Tengchong departs from Xiaguan.

For breakfast, we recommend going to Fuhe Garden, which is located at the junction of Yuyi Road and Fuxing Road. The appearance is very inconspicuous, but the rice noodles and bait silk taste very good, especially the bait silk, which is very chewy. Breakfast costs ¥3.

To go to Erhai Lake, you can take bus No. 2 at Foreigner Street and get off at Caicun Wharf. The fare is RMB 1. The ticket price of the Erhai Lake Cruise is RMB 100. But you can bargain with the local women soliciting customers for a price of ¥25. The cruise ship docks at Guanyin Pavilion and Jinsuo Island in Erhai Lake, and the round trip takes about more than an hour. Tickets for Guanyin Pavilion are RMB 10 and tickets for Jinsuo Island are RMB 3. The fare to return to Foreigner Street in the ancient city is RMB 1.

Two cableways have been built in Cangshan Mountain, namely the Gantong Temple Cableway and the Zhonghe Temple Cableway. Due to limited time, it is recommended to take the Gantong Temple Cableway, go up the mountain and walk along the Yudai Yunyou Road for 5km, and then return after reaching Qilongnu Pond. Then get off the Gantong Temple Cableway and go to Qingbi Stream on the way. The round trip time is about 4 hours. The round-trip ticket for the Gantong Temple Cableway costs ¥82, but if you buy it from the owner of the inn, it can be as cheap as ¥45. In addition, there are many ropeway ticket offices on Foreigner Street, and you should be able to negotiate prices. It is recommended to buy it from the innkeeper, you can save a lot of money. From the ancient city, you can take bus No. 4 and get off at the highway entrance outside the Gantong Temple Cableway. The fare is RMB 2. There is a minibus at the intersection to the ropeway, the fare is ¥3 per person.

After getting off the highway from Cangshan, you can also take bus No. 4 or minibus to Xiaguan. The fare is about ¥2. Get off at Xiaguan Passenger Terminal on Jianshe Road and buy a ticket to Tengchong tomorrow. The earliest shuttle bus from Xiaguan to Tengchong is at 10 o'clock, and the fare is ¥82. After that, you can freely move around according to your personal preferences. It is recommended to go to Shuangqiao Garden to eat rice noodles.

Day 4 (D4): Xiaguan-Tengchong.

The shuttle bus from Xiaguan to Tengchong is at 10 am, so there is no need to rush in the morning. Let’s have rice noodles for breakfast, the cost is ¥6. Tengchong is located in southwest Yunnan, 6 to 7 hours' drive from Xiaguan. However, the car and road conditions were relatively good, so I wasn’t too tired. Along the way, we have to climb Gaoligong Mountain, and the scenery is beautiful. At noon, the bus will stop in Puyi Town, Baoshan City, allowing passengers to have lunch. The meal fee is RMB 10. By the time we arrive at Tengchong New Passenger Terminal, it will basically be 17:00. It is inconvenient to find accommodation near the new passenger terminal. It is recommended to take a RMB 5 taxi to the Cangshan South Road area in the city to find accommodation. Double room in Guangsha Hotel opposite Tengchong County Government is ¥35.

When you go to Tengchong, you must go to the Tengyue Restaurant Night Market next to the county government to taste local snacks. It is recommended to go to Tengchong 4th Street Huayan snacks, fried crab, fried tilapia and Dajiujia are top-notch. You can also try a snack with Dai characteristics: Sapi. Dinner costs ¥15.

Tengchong was once an important jade and jade trading center in Southeast Asia. If you are interested, you can go to the jade and jade trading center. Prices in Tengchong are very low, and you can have fun and eat well here.

The fifth day (D5); Tengchong: Rehai, National Memorial Cemetery, Heshun Township.

Tengchong is an important town in western Yunnan with unique landscapes and rich history and culture. It is also known as a polar border town. She is the focus of this vacation. I believe that tourists who come here will not come back disappointed. This is why I specially arranged to spend 2 days here.

Atami and Volcano Park are the most famous natural scenic spots in Tengchong. Arrange Atami today and go to Volcano Park tomorrow. Breakfast can be had at Jiujiuzhuang, Yisi or Dajiujia for ¥6. Then take bus No. 2 to the station on Atami Road and transfer to the small bus to Atami. The fare is ¥6 per ***. The entrance fee to Atami is ¥30, and geothermal heat is well developed throughout the mountains. There are not only various hot springs, but also geothermal wonders. You can even feel the heat when you touch the rocks. The famous hot springs in the Atami Scenic Area include the Atami Big Boiling Pot (specially introduced in Xu Xiake's travel notes). The water temperature in the big boiling pot is as high as 97 degrees. Local villagers use straw ropes to string eggs and throw them in to cook. This is one of the Eighteen Weird Things in Yunnan. One of the "eggs sold on a string". In the scenic area, there are also special hot fountains such as Tibetan Well, Pearl Spring, Toad Spring, Spectacle Spring, and Drumming Spring, which are very unique. If you like hot spring baths, you can go to Beauty Bath Hot Spring to experience the feeling of soaking in an open-air hot spring in nature. There is an additional ticket of ¥60. After leaving the hot spring area, you will pass by Atsutian Scenic Area, which will give you the feeling of floating in the clouds. After leaving Atami, we took the Xiaomian bus back to Tengchong County for ¥6. Lunch costs ¥10.

The National Memorial Cemetery located 1km southwest of the county is buried with 3,346 named Chinese Expeditionary Army soldiers who sacrificed their lives to recapture Tengchong. The cemetery has extensive influence at home and abroad and is a national key cultural relics protection unit. Personally, I think that as a Chinese with a historical conscience, we should come here to pay homage! Let more people know about that period of history, and pay tribute to the martyrs who protected our country! You can take bus No. 4 in the county town, the fare is ¥1. Tickets are ¥20.

After coming out of the Memorial Cemetery, you can take the ¥2 bus to Heshun Township. Heshun was named one of the top ten charming towns in China last year. Tickets are RMB 50. You can visit Heshun Library, Wanlouzi, Western Yunnan Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall, Ai Siqi's Former Residence, Yuanlong Pavilion and other attractions. Afterwards, you can spend the night in Heshun or return to the county town for the night. Dinner ¥15, accommodation ¥35.

Tickets: ¥3¥6¥2¥50=¥160

Board and board: ¥6+¥1¥15+¥35=¥66

Total: ¥16¥66+¥20=¥246

Day six (D6); Tengchong: Volcanoes National Geopark, Beihai Wetland.

Breakfast is ¥6, and you can take bus 2 to Ximen for ¥1 in the county town. There are taxis or shuttle buses going to Tengchong Volcano National Geopark, but they only leave when they are full. The taxi fare is ¥15 per person and the shuttle bus is ¥7 per person. Because the road conditions are very bad and the journey takes 40 minutes. It is recommended to take a taxi. If you take the shuttle bus, get off at Mazhan Township. There are 97 volcanic bodies in the Tengchong Volcano National Geopark, which is the largest dormant natural volcano group in China. Tickets are RMB 30, including three scattered attractions: Dakong Mountain, Heiyu River and Pillar Joints. The last two are far away from the ticket office, so you need to take a separate bus to get there. If you are pressed for time, don't go there. The relative altitude of Dakong Mountain is only over 100 meters, and you can climb up the stairs built with volcanic rocks. Once at the top, you can even walk down into the crater. At the top of the mountain, you can see the surrounding volcanoes. After visiting the Volcano Park, return to Tengchong via the original route. The bus fare is RMB 15 and lunch is RMB 15.

In the afternoon, we took the small bus to Beihai Wetland near Ximen Station, and the fare was about RMB 5. Beihai Wetland is one of the 33 national key wetlands and the only national wetland reserve in Yunnan Province. The most peculiar thing here is that the meadow floating on the water can be used as a boat. The most beautiful season in the Beihai Wetland is probably from April to May, when purple Beihai orchids bloom everywhere. The entrance fee to Beihai Wetland is ¥30. You need to change into rain boots after entering, and take a fishing boat to circle around the wetland. On the way, you can get off the boat and experience the thrill of walking in the wetland under the guidance of local villagers. It is exciting! The cost of rain boots is RMB 2, and the tour guide fee is RMB 2.

For dinner, you can eat river fresh food at the farm restaurant next to the wetland, or you can go back to the county town to eat fried crabs at Tengyue Restaurant. The fare is ¥5, the meal is ¥15, and the accommodation is ¥35.

The seventh day (D7 ); Tengchong-Ruili; Ruili Nong'an Golden Duck Pagoda.

Today we end our wonderful trip to Tengchong and head to Ruili, a city with strong Dai characteristics in Yunnan. Ruili is located in the Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture in the southwest border of Yunnan. Dehong Prefecture, like Xishuangbanna, is a settlement of the Dai people. Breakfast is ¥6, and then we take a ¥5 taxi to Tengchong Passenger Terminal. There is a shuttle bus to Ruili at 10:10 in the morning. The ticket is ¥36. The bus is in poor condition. It is recommended to sit in the front. The drive takes nearly 6 hours. At noon, the car will stop at the Husa Mangdong intersection in Longchuan. There are many shops selling Husa knives at the intersection. After purchasing, you can directly ask the boss to mail it home to avoid trouble on the road. Interested tourists can choose to purchase. After the transfer, the car will climb a mountain and make sharp turns. It is recommended that tourists who suffer from motion sickness take motion sickness medicine in advance. At about 16:00 in the afternoon, you can arrive at Ruili Passenger Terminal. After getting off the bus, it is recommended to stay at Limin Hotel on Nanmao Street. Double room is ¥40.

Ruili is only separated from Myanmar by a river. In the urban area, you can see many Myanmar people, both men and women, wearing skirts. Very exotic. Friendly reminder: Ruili is close to the Golden Triangle and is a national trade port, so the number of people coming and going is complicated. You must be more vigilant and avoid going to more remote streets after dark.

Ruili is located in the southern subtropics, with high temperatures all year round. You can go to the Bubu Cold Drink Shop under the Nanyang Hotel to have special cold drinks. The waiters in this shop are all Burmese. I recommend everyone to try the exotic cold drink: Boludo. The fried rice in the store is also very special. Cold drinks cost ¥10. Apart from the Long An Golden Duck Tower, there are no other scenic spots in Ruili City. They are all scattered outside the city. Nong'an Golden Duck Tower is not far from Nanmao Street and can be reached on foot. No tickets are required.

In the evening, you can go to the night market of Huafeng Wholesale Market. There is a special Thai and Burmese food store, and you can also eat authentic Dai Sapa for ¥4 a serving.

The eighth day (D8); Ruili: Sister reported, Dawai shouted, Nanru River Taobao Shop.

There are not many restaurants on Nanmao Street. For breakfast, you can go to a rice noodle shop on the west side of the street to eat rice noodles for ¥4. Jiegao is my country's only piece of land on the other side of the Ruili River. It is the largest and most important highway port from Ruili to Myanmar. It is known as: "Little Shenzhen at the end of the world". Here is the only street between two countries on the Chinese border - China Main Street. There are hundreds of shops selling goods from both countries on the street. The taxi fare from Ruili is ¥10. There are many jade-buying shops on Zhongmian Street. If you don’t know the goods, it’s best not to buy them.

After returning to Ruili, lunch is ¥15. Dadinghuan Daijiazhai is located 20 kilometers southwest of Ruili. There is also a temple in Dadenghuan Daijiazhai. It was built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty and its architectural style is unique. You can take a minibus in Ruili City, which costs ¥5. On the way to Dadenghou, there are also scenic spots such as Huansha Village and One Country, Two Villages, all of which do not require tickets. Ruili is also known as the "Hometown of Peacocks". You can see many wild peacocks in Huansha Village and Dading Village. After exiting Dawai, you can go in the same direction to the Nanru River Taobao Shop in Nongdao. The minibus fare is RMB 5 and the entrance fee is RMB 50. The gems you find belong to you, but the processing fee will be charged separately. The fare from Taobao to Ruili is RMB 10. Dinner ¥15, accommodation ¥40.

Tickets: ¥50

Day 9 (D9): Ruili: Sister Lejin Tower, Wanding, Mori Primeval Forest, Ruili-Kunming (night bus).

Historically, Ruili was the center of the "Chengxiang Kingdom", where all the people believed in Theravada Buddhism and there are many cultural relics. Jile Jin Pagoda in the northeast of Ruili is one of the five famous pagodas in Southeast Asia. To get to Jile Golden Pagoda, you can take a minibus to Wanding. Get off at Jile Village. The bus fare is ¥3, and the entrance fee to Jile Jinta is ¥2.

After visiting the Golden Pagoda, you can go back to the highway and take the minibus to Wanding, the fare is ¥5. Wanding is the smallest city in China. The real charm of Wanding lies in the inconspicuous Wanding Bridge. Wanding Bridge is the gateway to southwest China, the key to the Burma Highway, and the link between the China-India Highway. During the Anti-Japanese War, it was the most important land channel for the Allied forces to assist China's strategic supplies. Zhou Enlai also walked through it side by side with the Prime Minister of Myanmar. Have lunch in Wanding, cost ¥10.

To go to the Mori Primeval Forest, the driver has to wait for tourists to return to Ruili after visiting, so he has to charter a car in Wanding. The minibus fee is ¥60. The entrance fee to Mori Primeval Forest is RMB 15. It is a pure subtropical rain forest with towering ancient trees, extremely quiet and many plants that are difficult to see in ordinary times. Deep in the rainforest is a 40m-high waterfall - Zhaduo Waterfall.

On the way back to Ruili from Mori, you can stop at the "Single Tree Forest" attraction in Mangling Village without tickets.

After returning to Ruili, go to Ruili Passenger Terminal to buy a night bus to Kunming for ¥200. Ruili is 880km away from Kunming and takes more than 14 hours by car. It should be noted that when leaving Mangshi, you will pass by a checkpoint, and anti-drug police will board the vehicle for inspection, so you must prepare all documents in advance.

Accommodation and meals: ¥4+¥1¥5=¥19

Transportation: ¥3+¥ 5+¥6¥15+¥200=¥283

Day 10 (D10); Kunming: World Expo Garden, Golden Horse and Jade Rooster.

The shuttle bus arrives at Kunming Xiyuan Long-distance Station in the morning and has breakfast at a hotel near the station for ¥5. After a short rest, go to the North Railway Station and take bus No. 71 and get off at the Expo Park. The fare is ¥1. The Expo Park is still worth going to, and the ticket price is ¥100. The park is very large, including a garden and horticulture pavilion and an ethnic customs pavilion, which can be visited for most of the day.

After returning to Kunming city from the Expo Park, you can go to Qiaoxiangyuan to eat rice noodles. The meal costs ¥15. You can go to the Golden Horse and Jade Rooster in the center of Kunming, which is the symbolic building of Kunming. Next to it is the bustling Nanping Pedestrian Street, a shopping street for Kunming citizens. There is Carrefour on the street, where tourists can buy food and local specialties for their return trip.

This completes the 10-day perfect vacation. The journey is more than 1500 kilometers.
