Longdao is located in the Laolonggou sea area southeast of Caofeidian, Tangshan (Figure 1). It is a sandy island formed by the simultaneous interaction of the ancient Luan River entering the sea and ocean wave currents. It is a primitive isolated island in the ocean. The development and construction of Longdao began planning and demonstration in June 2010, and a leading group and headquarters for the development and construction of Longdao's tourism industry were established. In October 2012, the "Hebei Province Marine Functional Zoning" was approved by the State Council, and Longdao and surrounding waters were listed as It enters the scope of tourist land, about 40 square kilometers.

2. Overview of natural conditions

(1) Meteorology. The Longdao area has a typical continental monsoon climate and has obvious warm temperate semi-humid monsoon climate characteristics. The multi-year average temperature is 12.6℃, the hottest month is August, which is 26.1℃, and the coldest month is January, with the average minimum temperature being -2.5℃. The annual average precipitation is 646.9mm, mainly concentrated in summer (July and August), accounting for about 64.3% of the whole year; winter (January and February) is the least, accounting for only 1.1% of the whole year. Due to the greater influence of monsoons, westerly winds prevail in winter, and southerly and southeasterly winds prevail in spring and summer. Strong winds occur more often in spring and autumn, and less in summer and winter. Typhoons have little impact on this sea area.

(2) Hydrology. Water quality: The water quality in the sea areas around Longdao all reaches Category II or above, meeting the requirements for swimming and water activities. Wave height: The frequency of wave heights below 1.3 meters in the nearby sea reaches about 90%. The north side is protected by the island and the waves are small and flat. Different wave height conditions provide the possibility for various types of water activities. Water temperature: The average surface water temperature in summer is above 24°C, which can meet the needs of summer water sports. Tide: The nearby sea area has irregular semi-diurnal mixed tide. In most cases, there are two high tides and two low tides on each tidal day, and the diurnal tide inequality is obvious. The average high tide level is 2.52m, the average low tide level is 0.98m, and the average tidal range is 1.54m.

(3) Beach. The beach is Longdao’s biggest advantageous resource. Longdao Beach is about 10 kilometers long and more than 100 meters wide. The sand is fine and soft, forming a rare beach seascape on both sides of the strait, which is enough to meet the needs of various beach sports. The sand on the island is mainly powdery and fine sand, which is grey-brown in color, with broken shells of different sizes mixed in some areas. Places that can be used as bathing beaches and other waterfront activities account for more than 60% of the island's area.

(4) Biology. The main biological resource types in Longdao and nearby waters include birds, fish, shellfish and other marine life. The diverse biological resources enrich the natural ecological landscape of the tourist area. Among water birds, seagulls are the most abundant and can be found throughout the island. The offshore shallow water area located on the north side of Longdao is one of the concentrated spawning grounds for fish; the shallow sea and tidal flats of Longdao are inhabited by various benthic animals such as variegated clams, clams, and green clams, as well as silver pomfret, tongue sole, barracuda, etc. Economic fish belong to areas rich in fish and shellfish. In addition, because it is inaccessible, the types, quantities, and colors of shells on the island are rich. There are also a large number of hermit crabs distributed on the island, forming an interesting landscape of hermit crab caves.

(5) Geothermal. It has been proven that there are rich geothermal resources in the offshore areas from Caofeidian to Jingtang Port. Longdao is located on a geothermal distribution center node in this sea area. The geothermal reservoir is mainly Upper Tertiary thermal reservoir, which is large and easy to mine. There are geothermal hot springs 1,700 meters underground. The water temperature reaches 72 degrees and is rich in potassium, calcium, etc. Minerals and trace elements beneficial to the human body.
