Real experience of working as a normal school student in Lhasa for three years
Sorry! Dear netizens, I have received a lot of private messages from friends recently. Because I don’t go to Zhihu very much, I haven’t been able to reply in time. The purpose of writing this article is to help children who want to work in Lhasa have a clearer understanding of some conditions in Lhasa.
? I am a normal student who graduated from Yunnan Normal University. In 2017, I worked in Lhasa for three years through Lhasa City’s talent introduction plan. The contract was actually signed for eight years, and I have now resigned. If the period is less than eight years, a penalty of RMB 20,000 will be required.
In terms of salary:
I am in Chengguan District, which can be said to be the most prosperous area in Lhasa. I will not mention the specific school. The salary is around 7,000, but there is a housing subsidy of around several thousand per year, and travel expenses of 10,000 are included. If you get a professional title, you will get a few hundred extra monthly salary. Because I have a second-level professional title, I have a provident fund of 1,250 per month. The provident fund can be withdrawn when I leave my job.
Housing:
If you plan to settle in Lhasa, the price of buying a house is about 12,000 per square meter. If you are short-term, you need to ask whether the assigned school provides accommodation. I did not have housing because of the location of the school. Renting a house in the city costs around 1,000 per room. Generally, schools in suburban areas will provide housing.
Food:
Mainly Sichuan cuisine here. Tibetan food is not very hygienic. The snacks are basically sweet tea, Tibetan noodles and meat cakes. The prices of food, clothing, housing and transportation are generally higher than in the mainland. Of course, cooking your own food won’t be too much of a problem, but you can’t do many tricks here, and some fruits and vegetables are not sold here.
Holidays:
The winter vacation in Lhasa is long, about two months, and the summer vacation lasts for more than ten days, but shifts are required during the winter and summer vacations. Be prepared that an unsympathetic leader may put you on duty during the holidays. In addition, air tickets for home and return flights during the winter vacation will be more expensive than usual, about 2,000.
Environment:
The air quality in Lhasa is very good, but it is extremely dry and hypoxic. I couldn’t get used to the climate here and broke out in acne. I have dry skin, and it was all over my face during adolescence. It's clean. After arriving in Lhasa for a few months, there is no clean spot on my face. It's easy to get allergic to ultraviolet rays. If your resistance is low in winter, you are prone to getting sick. I basically need an infusion every half a month in winter, and the medical conditions here are not good. Most of the reasons why I chose to resign were because of health concerns. The climate here is not suitable for children. There is a one-year maternity leave after pregnancy. My colleagues basically go back to the mainland after pregnancy, return to work after giving birth, and the children stay with their parents in their hometown. When they first graduate I won't consider these factors, and I will have to worry about these issues when I get older in two years.
I went to Tibet to work on impulse. Only I know the suffering. I don’t regret leaving now. If you have any questions, you can ask me and I will answer them patiently. Kind people are always beautiful!
