It is an arch bridge with 6 piers and 7 holes.
The bridge deck is paved with bluestone slabs, and the railings are made of three layers of large stones. The bridge body is made of kenaf stone and ash wood. The upper part is a solid belly stone arch of equal cross-section, the lower part is a mortar stone gravity pier, and the arch is laid horizontally. Three arch holes are left at the bottom of the arch.
The bridge pier is in the shape of an isosceles triangle, and the tip of the diversion point is inclined and arched. Zhenhai Bridge is an important transportation hub connecting Tunxi Old Street and Liyang. It is a landmark building in Tunxi and one of the rare Ming Dynasty large stone arch bridges in Anhui Province.
As early as June 2012, Zhenhai Bridge was listed as a provincial cultural relic protection unit. The Huangshan Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau stated that the upgrade of Zhenhai Bridge cultural protection units is of great significance to improving the city's cultural taste, promoting the in-depth integration of cultural tourism, and promoting economic and social development. At the same time, local governments are urged to continue to protect cultural relics and strive to create a new situation in cultural relics work.
Washed away by heavy rainfall on July 6, 2020
At 9:50 on July 7, 2020, the Zhenhai Ancient Bridge built in 1536 in Tunxi District, Huangshan City suffered a flood Attacked, the middle section collapsed. The bridge is a national key cultural relic protection unit.
Affected by continuous heavy rainfall, a six-pier seven-hole stone arch bridge and the Tunxi Zhenhai Bridge were washed away by floods in Tunxi District, Huangshan, Anhui. The bridge was built in the 15th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1536) and is located at the mouth of Sanjiang River in Tunxi. This used to be the gateway to Tunxi, but now it is an important passage to Huangshan Airport, western suburbs, and Wuyuan, Jiangxi. In October 2019, it was approved by the State Council as the eighth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
